Very proud to share our new paper demonstrating that transformed follicular lymphoma has increased activity of CD40 signalling due to lower levels of miR-29. Evidence that the B-T cell interactions are important in tFL (Filip et al, Leukemia, 2026, https://t.co/QYSohZ51mc).
Late breaking from #ASCO26 Day 2 for Lymphoma- FrontMIND trial
👉 Tafa+ Len + RCHOP vs RCHOP in 1L DLBCL IPI 3-5
👉 HR for PFS 0.75
👉 2 yr median PFS 72% vs 65%
👉 overall rate G3/4 TEAEs comparable, but increased cytopenias; febrile neutropenia in Tafa/Len/RCHOP
⭐️Potential new SOC option for 1L DLBCL in high risk pts, regardless of COO.
My concerns : Difficult regimen with weekly Tafa and 10 days of Len; higher myelosuppression/VTE risk with Len; plus concern of CD19 loss and efficacy of 2L CAR 🚗
Amazing! I’m impressed both with the results for a disease we have struggled against forever: pancreatic cancer; and the fact that we can target what we thought we could not ever: RAS.

Dr. Daniel Filip (Dano) has completed his PhD. Very proud of him and the work he has done in the lab (Filip et al, Leukemia, 2026 + 5 other papers). We have a new doctor !
Just out: Majestic Majestec-9 results.

Very humbled and honored to receive the Jessenius Award (Physician of the Year 2025) from the Patients Association of the Czech Republic. Named after Jan Jessenius, who performed the first public autopsy in the Czech lands (1600) and wrote an important book on surgical procedures.
Announced by the ERC today (really bad news for science!!! It starts in Europe but will affect everybody) Because the REVIEWING LOAD is so bad, if your application fails you may need to wait mulitple years (>3?!?) until you can submit again!
The ERC is the lifeline of the leading labs in Europe, so many research programs will be terminated (just no other sources to compensate).
The letter from the ERC says “the only way is to reduce applications” (highlighted in the picture below) No!!!
It's the wrong direction. Use AI to assist review. It’s not perfect (yet), but it allows more proposals to be evaluated, and it could support, not replace, human reviewers.
To follow the @AACR "Holy Week" we are sharing our new paper out today @BCD_AACR : “3D chromosome remodeling in B-cell development and acute lymphoblastic leukemia.”
Using integrative chromatin architecture, accessibility, and transcriptional analyses, we show that pediatric B-ALL subtypes harbor distinct 3D genomic states that parallel developmental arrest and support subtype-specific oncogenic programs. We further identify ERG as a key regulator in ETV6::RUNX1 B-ALL, with implications for leukemic maintenance and differentiation blockade. Finally, we map 3D changes in healthy human B cell development drawing parallels to specific disease states.

I don’t know if you saw the MASSIVE news announced by @ERC_Research today: from now on,if you get a B at step 1 you are eligible to apply at N+3(!!!) years. Say you got a B in STG2026 step 1, you thought you could apply in STG2028, but no: only in STG2029! https://t.co/GccJx6iQQh
This brilliant paper from Greg Hannon (https://t.co/23pgMt0L9a) led to my first paper, in which we studied miR-34a in leukemia. I am very grateful for his great science.
I learned yesterday that Greg Hannon passed away. I only met him a couple of times, but the meeting in Cold Spring Harbor when we talked about ncRNAs and ate lobster, that I will never forget. I truly enjoyed reading his papers, and his sharp intellect. https://t.co/6rgtB9mHAq
We're in this week's Nature! We propose a model of how a cell learns by running an evolutionary algorithm: exploring different gene-regulatory combinations and using feedback responses to stabilize those combinations that reduce stress levels.
