@Laura55043167 I completely understand your concern. Using Social Media in class can be scary and certainly requires safety precautions to be put in place. This article has some great ideas for keeping students and teachers safe while using Social Media https://t.co/89jBJDHcwn #wuedt6020
@PoliteTommie It is not yet approved with my district either. It's such a shame given all the educational advantages it provides our students. I remember you were able to influence the district's decision about a Flipped Classroom. If anyone can tackle Social Media...it's you. #wuedt6020
@ct55612 LOVE this! What a fantastic idea. Social media is a great way to help our students connect with a global audience, whether that is other classrooms, schools, or even experts. #wuedt6020
@LatchToni Wow! I'm so happy to hear your district supports social media in the classroom! I have been hesitant to use it as well, but I'd love to use it to start a conversation about food safety tips, nutrition, and all the cooking that's happening in my classroom. #wuedt6020
@AshleyDills1 I'm right there with you. I have only used it with the school-wide accounts. I think I'd like to start with Pinterest and Instagram to collect ideas and showcase student work. #wuedt6020
@hyperteacher93 I love this! It's so funny how they act when they find out we know that Tik tok exists. That is one app I couldn't figure out how to use in the classroom, but using it to review material is a great idea! What kind of concepts or subjects have you done? #wuedt6020
@AshleyDills1 Yes! The report at the end of each Quizziz game is so helpful. I've even used it as way to give assessments, since the data is collected for you. #wuedt6020
@EDTElizabeth I record / show videos to demonstrate cooking techniques and recipes so students can watch before they start cooking. Itโs really helpful, since I canโt be there with them to troubleshoot in the kitchen. #wuedt6020
@msg_esl I agree with @PleasantonSean. I will definitely continue to use FlipGrid for assessments and discussions. I will also continue using tools like https://t.co/pw7seG0YVy so my students have access to poster, pamphlet, and infographic templates. #wuedt6020
@EDTElizabeth @CarsonB58760111 I completely agree Elizabeth. I am a member of so many social media groups, specifically for educational technology. I even found one for digital notebooks! I find a lot of support and great ideas from these groups. #wuedt6020
@Ashley_Wilmu@McCoolWILMu Sharing technology tips with co-workers is so helpful! If someone is already proficient in a program, they can give you all the tips, tricks, and troubleshooting advice you'll need so you won't have to go through the struggle. #wuedt6020
Don't overwhelm yourself (AND your students) trying to learn 10..15..20 new web tools at a time. Focus on 1 tool. Learn to use it well. Only move on when you feel comfortable with the 1st one. If a tool doesn't work for you, don't use it! It's ok not to like them all. #wuedt6020
@JenniferSpeth I actually love this idea! That's a great way to facilitate students who have to cook at alternate times or even for the fun of making their own cooking show!
A big challenge during remote learning was figuring out how to turn a fully hands-on cooking course into a digital format. The solution was doing live/pre-recorded cooking demos while students cook along at home. #wuedt6020#week3
@MaryLonergan20@McCoolWILMu I completely agree. It took me a few weeks to realize there was a huge lag between me speaking and the students receiving my question. I love your idea to use a timer! It has definitely taken a lot of discipline to stay quiet.
@EdtSteph09 I also struggle to keep integrity with my high schoolers' assessments. I have found it helpful to use games like quizizz, but with the timers and music turned off. I really like your idea to use Google Forms though. Thanks for sharing!
