A New Chapter Begins - Representing Uganda 🇺🇬 in Japan 🇯🇵

This Jounery represent years of building relationships, earning trust, and staying committed to a vision.

I'm grateful to have safely arrived in Japan to participate in a professional program under the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS).

This is an opportunity to deepen my understanding of Japanese innovation, technology, business culture, leadership, and global partnerships while proudly representing Uganda and Africa's growing technology ecosystem.

Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with Japanese organizations and companies under @SumicUg, helping build bridges between Uganda and Japan through technology, innovation, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship.

This visit marks another important milestone in that journey.

I represented @SumicUg at the Digital Solutions Expo 2026, where we showcased the technologies we are building to solve real-world challenges across Africa.

What made the day special wasn't just demonstrating our solutions, it was the quality of the conversations. We had the opportunity to engage with entrepreneurs, business leaders, government representatives, students, development partners, and innovators who visited our booth to learn more about our work.

I was particularly encouraged by the number of people and organizations that expressed interest in collaborating with us, piloting our solutions, and exploring opportunities to work together.

Moments like these remind me that innovation is not only about building great technology, it's about building relationships, earning trust, and creating solutions that people genuinely need.

My appreciation goes to @refactory_acad for organizing the Digital Solutions Expo 2026 and for creating a platform that continues to showcase Uganda's growing innovation ecosystem.

The future is being built today, and I'm proud that Sumic IT Solutions Ltd is part of that journey.

A few days ago, I had the privilege of visiting the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (@UIRI_UG) together with part of the team behind @WorketJuaKali, where we were warmly hosted by Executive Director, Prof. Charles Kwesiga.

Beyond the insightful discussions, what stood out most was witnessing firsthand the incredible innovations, research projects, and practical skills training happening across UIRI's 15-acre facility. It was a powerful reminder that Uganda is rich in talent, creativity, and innovation.

As we toured the facility, we reflected on the mission of @WorketJuaKali: connecting skilled artisans, technicians, and informal sector workers to opportunities through digital technology.

📌 Today, over 80% of Uganda's workforce operates in the informal sector, while nearly 78% of our population is youth. Every year, institutions like UIRI equip thousands of young people with valuable skills. The challenge is ensuring that these skilled individuals can be discovered, trusted, and connected to customers and employers.

✅ That is exactly the gap we are working to solve through @WorketJuaKali.

My sincere appreciation to Prof. Charles Kwesiga and the entire UIRI team for the warm welcome, wisdom, and inspiration. The future of Africa will be built by unlocking the potential of the talent we already have.

The trainees are pursuing programs in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Business Computing, and will spend the coming weeks gaining hands-on industry experience through real-world projects, mentorship, innovation challenges, and exposure to modern digital technologies.
