The World Peace statue, located in Hakaniemenranta Helsinki, Finland gifted by USSR has been moved to a storage today.
Apparently the actual removal process took only 5 minutes.

@SageTod Finnish population is very trained with guns to begin with.
Recently there’s been big rise with voluntary additional Defence course popularity thou.
I’m personally now adays more like bazooka kinda of person. No training for that yet, but if it happens, I’m in.
@explainalltoall Is it really so? Sounds interesting. I admit that I was wondering the whole logic behind these kind of “gifts” to begin with. Bit too passive aggressive at least to my liking. “While we dindn’t manage to take Helsinki during the last war, here’s a nice Peace statue.” 😀
@SageTod Yes. That’s totally different thing. I’m so old that it was quite unconventional, even rare for a female to do voluntary military service then. If I’ve been born on this decade, might have even made a career from it.
@SageTod Haha, no. This kind of stuff is very regulated in Finland. I have however shot with Magnum 357 and have practiced how fast I can load some similar kind of handgun. Magnum happened in Finland, other elsewhere. Both assumably some sort of gun handling crimes, but years ago.
@SageTod Hi! Thanks for asking, highly appreciated. All very good, still on holiday. Had even a small holiday from internet 😀
How are you? Hope all is fine?
@ArmchairCopelrd@Havoc_Six These are the post tension strands circled. I don’t know a single engineer that wouldn’t shit a brick seeing this damage. These need to be continuous throughout the span.
@minna_alander @ChPalme@natobloggen@alexstubb Details from the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Sweden and Finland:
The full Senate will meet “hopefully the week of July 25” to vote on NATO accession, according to Senator Risch (R-Id).
