@adrianjw73@farmercate2 Google says it costs around $1.55 retail to make an ordinary cappuccino, including on costs. My local sells them for $6.50. Almost $5 per cup profit. Cafes that make poor quality food or have low foot traffic rarely survive anyway, the others will be ok.
@waltz_tales It could have been related to Covid, but also could have not been. Pneumonia is common and high risk in people over 65, which is why there are vaccines available for it. Many people don’t consider themselves to be ‘older’ in their late 60’s/early 70’s, so don’t take precautions.
@TextBluntly88@Flyin_Kevin@lesstenny Shops, pubs, restaurants, concerts, sporting events, airports are all still packed out by the middle class. They still buy new cars, houses and holidays. Everyone is not poor, but poor people are struggling more.
@DoctorBitcoin@Flyin_Kevin@lesstenny Record bullshit. Australia’s lowest birth rate was in 2023, increasing by 10.55% in 2024, then falling again last year by 1.23%. Welfare is only larger because of our ageing population. You would probably prefer that old people starve though, hey.
@siobhanworld Not sure about the UK, but here you can get rollers that attach to the top of your fence to prevent cats from being able to jump on top to get over it and out of your yard. Sold in hardware stores or online.
@timblack7719686@MisinfoFact@DrJulieAH Building houses is a State/Territory responsibility. The only levers the Commonwealth has are income tax, GST or regulation. Permanent immigration is 71% skilled migration, 28% family and 1% other. Capped to 185,000. Facts matter🙄
@timblack7719686@MisinfoFact@DrJulieAH Immigration is about Australia’s workforce, both current and future - simply put, without enough workers our society collapses. Housing is about infrastructure investment, which State governments rarely prioritise as it hasn’t been a vote winner for them. That’s why we are here.
I haven’t had a virus/cold since I stopped working in offices 5 years ago. Makes me think that most of the illnesses I had before then were comply avoidable if only sick people had stayed at home and kept their germs to themselves. Basterds 🙁
@the_moral_abc I have a ‘going home’ ritual to spark me up a bit if feeling exhausted
1. I don’t go straight home, I go shopping or out for coffee or a drink
2. Change into comfy clothes as soon as I walk in the door
3. Eat something delicious
4. Long hot shower
5. Early to bed, watch a movie.
@atrupar First week of winter in Australia, snowing in the alps, covered in clouds in 5 out of our 8 capital cities. This morning solar is generating a third of our national energy mix.
@Tdm60596Thomas@theSciTechGuy Because if they are dexterous enough to dance, they can also probably shoot people, and that’s where the real money is…..
