@WACSOF , we believe accountability is not just a principle we talk about - it is a practice we live.

@WACSOF, under her stride on social accountability, has been working with @PPDAUganda through Contract Monitors who lodge observations into the Contract Monitoring System (CMS). 🔎📋

Through this system, concerns raised by monitors are reviewed and followed up, with relevant institutions engaged at the local level and matters only escalated to @PPDAUganda when further intervention is required.

📍 One of the cases is the “Completion of tarmacking of Kalinzu Eco-Tourism Road” in Kyamuhunga Sub-county, Bushenyi District.

💰 In FY 2022/2023, Bushenyi District allocated UGX 252,201,400 for the tarmacking of the road. The contract was awarded to Rock and Dirt Solutions Ltd for a six-month project period starting in October 2022.

@WACSOF Contract Monitors visited the project in March 2023, followed by another monitoring visit in September 2023, and returned again in February 2024 to follow up on the progress and quality of the works. 👣🔎

During the monitoring process, concerns were raised regarding poor quality of works and delays in project completion.

📢 On 27 February 2024, WACSOF Contract Monitors formally raised a query through the CMS and escalated, seeking PPDA intervention.

🔍 With support from GIZ-SAC, @PPDAUganda subsequently conducted an engineering audit in March 2025.

The audit identified major technical concerns, including:

❌ use of materials that failed quality tests
🧱 Peeled surfaces
💧 Poor drainage system
⚠️ Poor contract supervision
🛣️ Other defects affecting the quality of the road works, poor application of bitumen etc

@PPDAUganda recommended that the district engage the contractor to rectify the identified defects and ensure that the works meet the required quality standards and specifications. 📋✅

Today, we officially kicked off volunteer trainings in preparation for the 2026 National Learning Assessment. The assessment will be conducted across 29 districts, covering 435 villages and 10,440 households, and is expected to reach more than 20,000 children aged 4–16 years.

As part of this year's assessment,@UwezoUganda is integrating the measurement of life skills and values alongside foundational learning. While the overall assessment targets children aged 4–16 years, the life skills and values assessment will be administered to children aged 5–16 years.

The volunteer trainings equip assessors with the knowledge and skills needed to collect high-quality, reliable data that will contribute to strengthening evidence on children's learning, life skills, and values across Uganda. #LearningForAll #LifeSkillsandValues @palnetworkHQ @UwezoTanzania @UsawaAgenda @alive_programme

This July and August, @UwezoUganda and her district partners will visit urban and deep rural communities in 29 districts, 435 villages and 10,440 households.

Our focus will be to assess children aged 5-16 on #ProblemSolving as a life skill and #Respect as a Value.

We will be keen to generate evidence on how children think through challenges and how they treat others.
