Ddx: Rhabdomyosarcoma
- Desmin+, polygonal cells w/ more eosinophilic cytoplasm & more severe cytologic atypia + atypical mitoses, may contain cross-striations
- proliferative fasciitis usually has mitoses, but should not have ATYPICAL mitoses
- also wrong pt characteristics
Ddx: Nodular fasciitis
- does not contain these characteristic ganglion-like cells
Ddx: Ganglioneuroma
- S100+, contains Schwann cells, fibrillar background lacking significant component of fibroblasts/myofibroblasts & wrong pt (too old + this tumor not really seen in skin)
