I genuinely think part of the reason why anti-intellectualism is on the rise is because social media is inundated with these confusing sensationalist headlines that give most people the impression that scientists are all insane.
The slowly building yet never-articulated realization that he's never going to make it out of there alive, culminating with this moment where he glimpses an enormous city outside the window, is what makes this episode so peak. Top-tier cosmic horror.
I don't care if it's not as culturally relevant as it used to be: the Backrooms, in its purest form, is one of my favorite horror concepts to have come out of the internet. The YouTube series is insanely good, so really hoping this lives up!
