I definitely agree that AI is overhyped, but in truth most people treat AI like it's a fancy Google search. If that all they're doing (which is what he's implying) then the don't entirely understand how to apply it. AI can be a co-creator, an amanuensis, an orchestrator of tasks and an executor of tasks. I understand the frustration with the hype, but to reject this is a mistake.

@TonyNashNerd Interesting opinions on AI governance approaches: the authors/EU/China approach is to restrict the tech based on unknowns. US policy is to let it develop, see where the issues are and then regulate accordingly. The authors do anticipate 100% of current policy to go wrong.
