Thrilled to share our invited Nature Reviews Neuroscience review on the role of peripheral immunity in Alzheimer’s disease.
Honored to write this piece with outstanding colleagues @KuchrooLab, @RudyTanzi, @weinerlabhms, Mehdi Jorfi and rising stars from my lab Neta Rosenzweig and Kilian Kleemann.
My sincere thanks to Editor Katherine Whalley for the invitation.
The time has come to deeply investigate peripheral immunity in AD.
organoids, while a powerful tool for studying human biology, lack immune systems, which is a significant limitation. NIH prioritized organoids to model human tissues and diseases in vitro. However, their lack of an immune system hinders their ability to fully recapitulate human physiology, especially for studying immune-related processes or diseases involving immune responses, like Alzheimer’s and Cancer
Thrilled to share invited review with the brilliant @NetaRose11! in the @ImmunityCP special issue on neuroimmune interactions. We explore shared immune pathways in Alzheimer’s & AMD, and chart new directions for cross-disease therapeutic strategies. https://t.co/rBSe7ALa52

Research Spotlight: Uncovering How a Cellular Miscommunication Leads to Cognitive Impairment in Female Patients with Alzheimer’s Disease https://t.co/tHgegmwynl @ButovskyLab@OlegButovsky@NetaRose11 @KilianKleemann
This work led by Neta Rosenzweig (@NetaRose11), @KilianKleemann, & Thomas Rust provides a translational basis to target IL-17F in APOE ε4 female carriers with cognitive impairment. 🧠
Congratulations to all the authors! @OlegButovsky@EggenBart

@PAULJLAMONT@OlegButovsky @KilianKleemann @EggenBart@BlurtonJonesLab@weinerlabhms@NowarskiLab Very interesting point! I’ll read this in details. We did not look at astrocytes specifically in APOE4 carriers, but it makes sense to me in light of previous findings that APOE4 impairs mitophagy in astrocytes.
