We propose that six main mechanisms of neural #oscillations contribute to multi-timescale neural processing in multisensory (and unisensory) integration:
Amplitude modulation, phase resetting, entrainment, phase-amplitude coupling, phase coupling; envelope coupling
Such a honor to present our doctoral theses in #ESCAN2024 with my great colleagues and friends. We received excellent feedback on our work and were updated by great authors who are referents in our topics. Representing to @NeuroUDD and @psicologiaudd 🧠👏🏼
Unveiling the Brain’s Response to Sound
Researchers made significant advances in understanding how the brain processes auditory information to guide decisions and actions.
Their study reveals that the cortex, known for processing sensory inputs like sounds, also harbors signals related to future actions, which are typically expected in motor areas.
By employing a novel experimental setup with mice, the researchers were able to separate and analyze the sensory and decision-related signals within the auditory cortex.
This groundbreaking research not only clarifies the dual role of sensory areas in perception and action planning but also suggests that these areas may help integrate sensory experiences with anticipated actions, shedding light on the complex neural basis of decision-making based on auditory cues.
