@AdrianoAguzzi @TrumanLab In other words, I think we would see a lot fewer "couldn't"s if we were to address these external factors via strategies like more accessible teaching -- right now we are just selecting for brains that can passively listen to lectures, memorize, etc.

@AdrianoAguzzi @TrumanLab I do! Though I wouldn't put as much weight on the former. I think the brains capable of becoming good physicians are much more diverse than what are currently supported and I hate to see motivation snuffed out because a teacher thinks a student "isn't cut out for it."

Anyone else who has/is deciding between grad programs been given the "go with your gut" advice?

Finding it difficult to reconcile this with the desire to somehow empirically optimize my decision (which is more hopeful thinking than an actual possibility). #gradschool
