Building the Airbnb of AI with @ionet CEO, @MTorygreen
This week I am releasing a Drops episode with Tory Green from Ionet!
His goal is to build Ionet into a better, cheaper, faster cloud solution while becoming the world’s largest decentralized AI Cloud.
He reveals:
- His biggest failure that led to his relentless work ethic and drive today
- Why GPUs are the new “oil” of the AI revolution
- How decentralized networks are the key for AI agents to reach full mainstream adoption
- Why disruption is the best way to innovate in crypto
- How to “front load” stress as an entrepreneur to create a successful business
Podcast coming out this week!
I’m proud to announce that When Shift Happens podcast is now an ecosystem media partner of @SuiNetwork , and Sui is an official partner of the When Shift Happens Podcast!
I met Adeniyi (@EmanAbio ) in San Francisco in August of last year and talked to him about life, faith/religion, crypto, Arsenal, and of course: how SUI intends to change the world for the better.
At the time, I knew about Sui through @RaoulGMI ’s thesis on the project, and after interviewing Adeniyi, SUI became a no-brainer for me.
Glad to be a part of Sui’s ecosystem and proud to call them a WSH partner!

Respect your guest and you audience’s time
One of the most astounding comment I often hear about WSH is “it’s amazing how much space you give to the guests and how much you let them talk”
Bro, I don’t know what podcasts you usually watch but if I am getting an industry star - who is 100x smarter than me - in a room for 2h… of course I will STFU and let him / her talk
Common sense
Sat down with @GDanezis , Co-founder and Chief Scientist at @Mysten_Labs , and one of the minds contributing to @SuiNetwork and @WalrusProtocol
We talked for 2h about:
- the upcoming Walrus launch
- decentralizing data storage
- P2P systems
- Bitcoin, Ethereum, and SUI
- how to come up with big ideas
And much more!

Recorded a 2H + banger with @cryptomanran from @crypto_banter
This is a completely different Ran than everyone has seen before, a unfiltered conversation where I not only challenge him about the Banter Business Model but where we go through tons of things :
- Ayahuasca
- How to grow a mega YouTube Channel
- How to actually make money on crypto
- the trade offs between getting attention and “the boring that works” in crypto media
- Building leverage and the best network in crypto through podcasting and Content
- Failing big
- dealing with FUD
- being a champion and beating everyone else by a mile
- being obsessed with winning
- being the best dad in the world
And so much more
Out in soon !
Looking at @Punk9277 and his team’s execution in the last few months , the Kaito mindshare and the $KAITO chart after TGE, it seems that @kaitoai was another big W for When Shift Happens and for whoever took the time to study the pod with Yu Hu to build conviction
But how did I know?
It’s not that complicated if you just…look.
Crypto is full of noise, and there aren’t many S-Tier Founders on the consumer apps side (there are quite a few A-Tier though)
Big brains like to use a term I rarely use: “first principles thinking”
If you follow “first principles thinking” and look at who is “built different” in the “newcomers” generation of mega crypto founders, here are the people who stand out imho:
@chameleon_jeff@weremeow@Punk9277@ASvanevik@LucaNetz@leptokurtic_@BChillman
Might be forgetting a few people but the list isn’t long - probably less than 10 people
(Btw, “Newcomers” mean “non OG mega founders yet” but who have the potential to become the OG mega founders of the future, just like the OG big exchanges / stablecoin guys are now: Brian Armstrong, Jesse Powell, CZ, Jeremy Allaire, Paolo from Tether/Bitfinex, Justin Sun, etc..)
Again, if you are a serious investor in this industry, you want to bet on the CZ, Brian or Paolo of tomorrow.
But how do you do this?
Lets look at the common pattern between these newcomers (First principles) :
- They are hyper intelligent
- They are hyper practical
- They built a profitable business (because they are practical and understand that a business must be… profitable, even in crypto!)
- They are very humble
- They work 24/7
- Their product / app has a large mindshare (i.e. is known by almost everyone)
I am lucky that my job is to sit down with these people and it might help me recognize the patterns after more than 110 conversations with the most credible people in this industry
But given that these conversations are all published online and available for free, I just don’t see how you too cant see how “easy” it is to spot these S-Tier Founders
Maybe you are just too caught up in the too many short term crypto zero sum games. Or maybe you are just too lazy to go through a 1.5-2.5h long podcast. Or maybe you don’t act on your conviction.
Anyhow, I will claim my 6 figs $KAITO airdrop and stake it all, because supporting the too few S-Tier founders in the crypto industry is not only a must, but also a win - win (for the founders and for my bags)
Now back to work
Why Crypto’s Speculative Side Shouldn’t Be Bashed
@Melt_Dem from @cruciblevc talks about one of her biggest pet peeves after being in crypto for nearly a decade…
And how to come to terms with the speculation and subsequent greed in crypto, and the benefits it’s given crypto participants over multiple cycles.
