Today marks THREE WHOLE YEARS since I started work on what I've been calling the 'definitive VR mech simulator'. I love progress threads so here's one after the fact. #gamedev
Hi! Logging on to remind people that I'm not dead and my VR mech simulator is nearly ready for primetime - this is OVRLRD! https://t.co/kWBwApWHpL #virtualreality
Been trying to really rethink traditional game mechanics for VR - here, you order NPCs around by grabbing the radio and squeezing the trigger. This forces your off-hand into a pointing pose - just point and release the trigger to give a 'move' order. (feat. my awful test VO)
@benz145@SideQuestVR I'm a solo dev making a VR mech simulator in the spirit of classic milsims! Also I eat peanut butter out of the tub with a spoon https://t.co/Zt71DkLaWk
Just discovered a fun feature of #unity - if you give your serializeable classes an 'Id' string and put it at the top of the class file, Unity will automatically use it to name instances of the class in the inspector. Massively helpful for long lists of things #unitytips#gamedev

Something I've been playing with is this camera feed from the remote-piloted drone. You can use it with the artillery cannon - that crosshair moves over the terrain to show the predicted impact of your shot. Not sure if it'll be fun to use but it was fun to make #gamedev#ovrlrd
I had a nightvision shader for the weapon cameras, but it wasn't really doing much except intensifying the image. I set the cameras to cull everything except terrain, trees and thermals, then upped the contrast and tada! A handy little enemy-detecting camera #unity3D#ovrlrd
