An olive tree can live thousands of years. Cut it down, and it grows again. Burn it, and it returns to the dirt, deeper, stronger, unbroken. Its roots don’t just simply sit in the earth, it clings to and becomes one with its soil.

Palestinians are the same.

Palestinians in Gaza will not be removed, destroyed, erased. No force can unmake a people whose roots run this deep. The occupation has tried for generations to mow down, burn, bomb the olive trees of Palestine. And yet they come back, we plant more, they remain intrinsically part of the land.

And so do we. So do Palestinians in Gaza. So do Palestinians in the West Bank. So do Palestinian in the occupied land. So do Palestinians in the diaspora.
