I work 10 hour days doing physical work, then spend my evenings building apps with AI.
I'm not chasing millions. I just want to replace my wage, get my time back and have more energy for my family.
Anything beyond that can come later.
@JonnyHallbuilds@starter_story The main one im into right now is A diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett. There allot of intresting discussions on there that are very thought provoking. I find it helps me lock i to my workflow but also relax around it too making building really enjoyable
@dasundev@sleke_app Same rhythm. Construction days then SiteConcept evenings. The day job pays the bills, nights are for the thing that might buy time back.
@AnthonyTareh Seen this from the driveway side. After hours enquiry comes in, nobody picks up, job's gone by morning. Speed of first reply beats fancy marketing every time.
@JonnyHallbuilds Love this. After a long site day the last thing I want is another screen fight with the kids. An app that gets them outside looking for birds is the kind of thing worth building.
@Joey_Walker82 This. Site days then SiteConcept nights only make sense if there's still room for the kids and the dog walk. Otherwise what's the point.
@Vroqlin Maybe. I do feel like im at the turning point now and spend more time contemplating it. Hopefully we get our moment, im sure when it comes it will feel like it was always leading to that point
@ColdMorningGrit This is a constant battle for me too. A client makes a change mid way through and then argues the extra bill at the end. Usually its done at cost aswell, thats the most frustrating part is you try to be as fair as you can and get walked all over.
Yard at 7, loaded the lorries, laid a patio and coping stones, finished early for a Friday.
Home now for dinner and bedtime with the kids, then I'll walk the dog, think through whatever ideas are stuck in my head and probably end up building one of them tonight.
@MountainManTN Driveway quotes look mad until you see what's in them. Ground prep, edging, resin depth, waste, access. Half the sticker shock is scope that never got broken out. Ask for the line items.
@StoneOnChain This is exactly it on site. Phone rings under a sink or on a roof and that lead is gone by tea. I care less about fancy AI and more that the enquiry actually gets caught before they ring the next firm.
@CornerBuildSoft Three systems that never talk is the weekly mess. Cutoff in the contract, date in the schedule, choices somewhere else. One place the crew can actually check beats another dashboard.
@Joey_Walker82 This lands. On the trades side the shopfront does half the selling before anyone reads a word. Same reason I'm picky about how SiteConcept looks for a driveway firm before the first enquiry.
@A1Chico Same pain. Change order on work already done because the sequence got ignored. A clear agree step before anyone picks up tools beats arguing about triple price later.
@SeenOnMain I've watched this from the driveway side. Form filled while the crew's still on the van, nobody answers for hours, customer has already messaged three other firms. Speed of first reply beats a prettier website.
@ColdMorningGrit Same on site. One trade leaves a mess and the next can't start. Building SiteConcept evenings feels identical. If the enquiry to quote step is rough, the book and invoice bits fall over too.
@JonnyHallbuilds Same strange clock. 10 hour site days then SiteConcept evenings while everyone else is winding down. Building for people who live that broken timetable makes more sense than another desk-job app.
@glowbid This. A thumbs-up text about moving the edge is not a change order. Without a clear agree-on-price step, you're arguing about it after the resin's down.
