The West convinced the world for years that vertical landing on offshore platforms was the only way to recover rockets.
Then China came today and caught a giant orbital rocket with a net and cables—on the very first attempt! https://t.co/BCH3Oh4L3H
@jerrodcodes@engineers_feed You surely have not built a bridge before. Every project presents countless challenges: terrain, water flow, materials, etc. Dunning-Kruger pro max
@DenzSuggs@T14Armada@jokieliu It can be simultaneously communist and capitalist until you look: it collapses to one depending on the prejudices of the looker
People are upset about the World Cup because instead of bringing the world together it’s another reminder of how unjust the world is.
It’s not a conspiracy. A Somali referee was denied entry to the U.S., that’s a fact. The U.S. tried to swap Iran for Italy, and then mistreated the team, that’s a fact. The U.S. president made a call to reverse a red card for an American player, that’s a fact…
From discrimination and over-priced tickets, to commercial breaks and VAR issues, many people who have watched and enjoyed the World Cup since childhood are more than disappointed. The whole tournament was tainted from the beginning, starting with a fake peace prize to gratify the host country.
@AfiaTvOfficial What will do they do if they happen to visit China or Japan that has real world-class infra? The decaying, decrepit Italian infra is not what we should wow our young impressionable minds with
Multipolarity doesn't mean Western people will become poor.
It means they will become normal.
It means a Congolese engineer and a German engineer will negotiate on terms that reflect their actual value rather than the legacy of who colonized whom.
It means the dollar will be one currency among several rather than the rent the whole world pays to America for existing.
It means European countries will have to make foreign policy based on actual relationships rather than the assumption that their preferences automatically constitute the international consensus.
Normal.
The horror with which this prospect is greeted, the language of civilizational threat, of decline, of loss, tells you everything about how far from normal the current arrangement actually is.
And who it's normal for.
I have an email trail of @gtbank issuing me SMS charges for several months (a little N218 here, N498 there, meanwhile since I opened the account, they have sent me 13 texts (1 for acct opening, 3 OTPs, and 9 promotional).
I don’t subscribe SMS alerts, so where do the charges come from? By their math, their USSD feature (which I don’t use) costs N6.98, so if I got charged a similar range for texts, I should be hitting under N91 for lifetime texts.
I only communicate with this bank via emails, yet every time I get billed for things I do not use. I’ve complained to my acct officer in the past and he confirmed I don’t use the service.
Next steps would be to serve papers.
@hackSultan@tem_ple So you turn the entire Lake Chad basin and the Sahel to a nuclear wasteland for years to come due to a few bandits? Something a few simple drones, movement tracking and a will to act, can do at less cost
@darasoba@dnaijatechguy Learning how the computer works at the hardware level does nothing to teach you Layout challenges on a dynamic canvas. HTML/CSS is a good foundation for someone going into any UI role
@MzyZhiyimacmnh@D931931 It is just a feel-good metric people throw around. I have used Anthropic models... and at least for my use case Kimi and GLM models are exactly 0 months behind US frontier models. The rest are so vibe-specific as to be meaningless in general contexts. The harness is the moat
@perceptions420@asemota Sorry... where did you glean that info of it being Mythos and Fable (both are under usage and export restrictions). The blog post mentioned it is based on a panel of models (pioneered by OpenRouter) but with a trained router
