@brembs@franknorman What is also striking is how that APC diversity scales with metrics like impact factor for an arguably identical service. E.g., Cell Rep £4,300; Curr Biol £5,700; Dev/Mol/Cancer Cell £7,000; Cell £7,800. Elsevier’s full APC pricing is here: https://t.co/oNXTfE5BW6
It's Friday. So I asked GPT-3 to write a poem about #OpenScience. Here's what it wrote.
Open science is the way to go
The benefits are clear to see
It allows for collaboration
And speeds up the process
Of scientific discovery
This account by @michael_upshall of the launch of @science_octopus yesterday encapsulates my thoughts about it. It's a radical and interesting idea - but a huge hill to climb. I wish them luck. https://t.co/IOL7WSpgIv

This is an interesting thread.
Librarians do what they believe most researchers want - but due to the scholarly publishing system, it is difficult to move away from big deals without a great deal of inconvenience .
It's time to come up with alternatives (subject based?)
We're so excited to see that @SpringerNature is expanding their Figshare integration in a pilot across select Nature Portfolio and Academic Journals, further supporting authors in sharing their research data.
