Field work is a blast with an amazing lab crew! Huge thanks to @PPhillipsAg, @AG__McCoy, and Jamie Walker for the awesome help setting up this unique experiment with bioformulations. Excited to track sclerotia degradation across treatments! @MartinChilvers1
Stripe rust has now been confirmed in several counties across Michigan. Scout fields! If fields are still at flag leaf a fungicide may be warranted, if coming into flowering a fungicide for head scab will help protect the flag leaf https://t.co/IQWnpgZQIu

For the love of Yield and late standability, please demand to know Tar Spot scores when making seed decisions for 2024…even if you had a fungicide planned (the first video had 2 apps!). It wasn’t even wet and cool this summer.
If you are at #PlantHealth2023 and would like to talk about tar spot, silage corn, dairy nutrition, or field crop management stop by August 15th from 2-2:45 at poster 88 to see my research!
Exciting news! We developed a method to induce infection of Phyllachora maydis into corn #tarspot 🌽 and it's now available online. Take a look and find the detailed method:

Kudos to my favorite PI, @MartinChilvers1 on an awesome seminar: Stories of field crops pathology! It's easy to lose sight of the bigger picture sometimes, and you brought the perfect amount of context and perspective today, Marty! 🎉🎉 @MSUEFieldCrops@MSU_PSM@MSU@CropNetwork
Tar spot pressure is still low in MI, but recent reports are coming such as Monroe, Branch, Ottawa, Muskegon co. - about a month behind 2021. DM pics if you see it elsewhere
