@ArtyFolks Wow, fancy reminding people struggling with low mood or depression who know they should prioritise their mental health but can’t for whatever reason, that without it they don’t have much to hold on to …that’s a terrible message
Psychosis: strange beliefs that can’t be true (delusions), seeing things that aren’t there (hallucinations) & loss of touch with reality(mania)
It can take a decade to stop believing in people & things you shouldn’t & to see where genuine support, kindness & understanding exists
To all mums who need to hear this right now & especially those who’ve come through or are still going through #PostpartumPsychosis ...that means you!
Happy #MothersDay to the most thoughtful, caring mums I know💜 #PPTalk

10yrs ago being able to tell my story in a safe, welcoming space, without shame was inconceivable. A favourite memory is in 2014 when 30 women met in person & were understood & accepted for the 1st the time💜 https://t.co/xTYy8Q8fQC @ActionOnPP@heronjess@jonesir@LauraDockrill
🎂 We're celebrating our 10th birthday today!
✨ Action on Postpartum Psychosis became a charity #onthisday in 2011.
💜 What is your favourite memory of APP? When did you discover APP? We'd love to hear from you.
@RuthAnnHarpur Isn’t it weird how differently we interpret words? Guess it depends on who says it & what context. I barely ever had parental support, for me it means care & support the mum & a good mother wouldn’t be overbearing. I’d have loved to feel mothered/safe/secure, with PP it was vital
We are still here for you in these uncertain times 💜
The Action on Postpartum Psychosis forum is open 365 days a year. You can talk to us > https://t.co/ymomPIBynI
Time to continue my new series on #psychwords - psychiatric words sometimes misused in everyday speech. It's time to #EndTheStigma by ensuring we use our words and the meanings behind them correctly.
Last time: "depressed" was the word (link at end)
Today: "Psychotic"
