Following the unprecedented escalation of conflict between Palestine and Israel, I condemn all forms of violence and urge immediate diplomatic intervention by the UN, OIC and world leaders to end bloodshed and bring peaceful resolution.
Just like the late Russian lawyer Magnitsky, Begum Khaleda Zia is being denied her rights to get proper medical care. God forbid, if anything happens to her, it'll create a mass uprising in the country. Something none has seen before.
#FreeKhaledaZia
#SheikhHasina has proven again that she's a tyrant who thinks anyone asking for a free election wants to topple her govt as she can't win fair polls, she threatened to #shutdown the govt ahead of next polls & dehumanized @bdbnp78 men by comparing them with stray dogs like dictator Gaddafi.
Magnitsky Act of @StateDept was named after Sergei Magnitsky who was denied better treatment before his death in Russia because of the vengeance of the regime. #Bangladesh ex-PM Begum Khaleda Zia is facing similar obstacles from dictator #SheikhHasina, who made it clear in her speech in London in October 2023.

Curious #Bangladeshi people want to know- are these fifty #editors actually supporting the oppressive and fascist regime of #SheikhHasina and @albd1971?

Speech by @trahmanbnp, Acting Chairman of the party, on the occasion of the 45th founding anniversary of @bdbnp78.
BNP Acting Chairman @trahmanbnp pledged that Bangladesh will ratify the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance (ICPPED), as well as adopt legislation in accordance with ICPPED, with the topmost priority, if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP forms the government with peoples mandate.
With millions of Bangladeshis, I am deeply concerned over the relentless fact of #EnforcedDisappearances in Bangladesh, where a haunting specter has cast its shadow under Sheikh Hasina regime. From credible human rights groups, it is recognized that at least 659 people have been abducted by the law enforcement agencies and disappeared between January 2009 and June 2023. None of them have been afforded justice as of today.
These people weren't just numbers; they were beloved family members, abruptly snatched away by brutal force, leaving behind shattered dreams and a traumatized nation. Such actions strike at the very core of our shared humanity, constituting an intolerable offense against the values we hold dear. Enforced Disappearance, as described in Article 7(2) of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), is unequivocally classified as a Crime Against Humanity, a designation that underscores the gravity of these violations and the urgent need for justice.
As we approach the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, my thoughts transcend borders and politics, to all those suffering worldwide. This is a global plea for justice, a call to unite against this darkness and ensure accountability for the perpetrators.
On behalf of my party, my commitment is that Bangladesh will ratify the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance (ICPPED), as well as adopt a legislation in accordance with ICPPED, with the topmost priority, if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP forms the government with peoples mandate. Justice must prevail for this grave crime against humanity!

On the Sixth Genocide Remembrance Day, we stand together with the #Rohingya refugees in sympathy and solidarity. The repressed refugees are far from returning to their homeland, while President Ziaur Rahman and Prime Minister Khaleda Zia sheltered them, mounted global pressure on Myanmar, and conducted successful repatriations.
Let us strive for a world where universal human rights are respected, and such atrocities never happen again. @RefugeesIntl@Refugees@amnesty@hrw
