[Thread] I will now explain our new study about people cooperating with honeyguide birds, using Lego and graphs (and Lego graphs). This study was a great team effort: @honeyguiding@honeyguide@jesvanderwal@jesslund01 + many not on Twitter.
We compared the flight behavior of captive-bred and wild-hatched Egyptian #vultures during migration, tracking the birds for multiple years.
We analyzed their movement in multiple scales - from timing and distance of complete migration routes to soaring-gliding efficiency.
We are happy to announce that our next intensive, non-profit #SummerSchool will take place from 17. - 28. of June 2024 in Konstanz/Radolfzell, Germany.
Applications can be send from the 15th of November via https://t.co/klyFGbzpjc

@ubcokanagan 🍁 come to an end. Friendships were made and knowledge gained ...unfortunately overshadowed by #wildfires resulting in evacuation. We hope everyone got home safely!🚙🚄✈️
Important work about nest types and stressors of urban raptors by @PeSumas - counteracting the overrepresentation of studies from the Northern hemisphere with her research in #Africa and #Asia! #blacksparrowhawk

6. Feeling inspired? We ask the #ornithology community to think of 3 key questions in avian urban ecology, ranked from 1: gold; 2: silver; 3: bronze. We adopt inclusive authorship model to publish “100 burning questions”. Please follow link to participate: https://t.co/SRNcmVL6ND

4. Air #pollution exacerbates heat effects, with impacts on #redox and #immune system. UHI under #climatechange relaxes thermoregulatory costs in temperate, continental and polar cities during winter, but exacerbates costs in summer and in tropical cities https://t.co/9xm8hIy3zI
