@BitcoinVicFalls circular economy, we can guarantee you living on bitcoin 100%.
Special thanks to joe in showing these amazing proof of works. Come experience all this on BTC.
Got a random call one weekend, "Is this Michael, the Bitcoin guy?" Next thing, we are invited to set up bitcoin payments at Crocodile Park. That’s how Bitcoin moves. One spark, and the ripple travels farther than you expect.
Wow. Where to even start!
We were invited to speak on a panel about bitcoin to a room full of African Students from across the continent interested in Freedom as part of @AfricanSFL Liberty Conference 2026.
But before the conference we spent some time in Livingstone to see first hand all of the (proof of) work that @BitcoinVicFalls team has been putting in. @btcmap had over 115 listings in a small city of just 177k people. We didn't want to just trust, but verify, and sure enough we were able to spend BTC at the places we decided to test.
And that was even before we met up with @PeleteMichael@bitcoin_diary who then showed us around to even more merchants that had really great branded signs that were big and bold and really let customers know that bitcoin was accepted. Had a few chats with some of the vendors and the consensus seemed to be that bitcoin helped them save for their futures. One highlight was a lady selling blankets for bitcoin who was in her 70's "it's never too late to try new things!"
From there we met with @lukas_mwanza who showed us the headquarters of @BitJracademy where kids come to learn about bitcoin. Often from the recommendation of their parents who graduated through the adult courses and naturally want a better future for their kids!
We also paid for lunch with bitcoin downstairs at a place run by a woman who told is a story of cross-border-lunch payments. One of her clients eats at her restaurant, but his uncle pays for the meal via lightning from another country!
We visited a traditional village village Mukuni and met with some of the village elders who were cautiously optimistic about bitcoin, and spent some bitcoin at their curio market. This place has MASSIVE potential to educate westerners about the power of bitcoin. More to come on this later.
Then we attended a graduation ceremony of the latest cohort of students, followed the next day by a visit to a kids school where the children were EXTREMELY enthusiastic about Bitcoin! When do you ever see kids excited about taking a test??? Only bitcoin tests can do that.
Upon departing Livingstone we spent more sats in the airport at a coffee shop. Livingstone might have the highest density of bitcoin acceptance per population. Someone should run the numbers on that.
Then onwards north to Lusaka. The big city. Smaller than Nairobi, and cleaner/quieter too. The students at the conference had great questions about bitcoin and Tando was mentioned quite a lot to our surprise. The brand is strong! Honored. Met some awesome folks like @counselabe01 who's part of @SatSisterCircle. Always great to put a real face to an X handle and make those human connections.
While in Lusaka we had a chance to try out @BitZed_ which is like a local Tando where we paid for transportation with bitcoin -- the driver received kwatcha. @LindaKariu54810 also picked up some fabric in the local market and paid with BTC via BitZed to the sellers mobile money account.
And on the final day we connected with the @BitcoinZambia community and met some of the developers of @bitdevszambia such as @0chavic who is helping to bring more privacy to bitcoin via @payjoindevkit. Really important work!
All in all it was great to see all the progress being made here. More bullish than ever on bitcoin in Africa! Every community is using the tools in ways that uniquely solve the problems on the ground. 🧡
P.S. Sorry for anyone we met but didn't have their X handles to tag. There were many more. You are equally appreciated for your efforts!
@tando_me Thank you for the acknowledgement, our community had real fiat problems, despite been boarder town yet failing to transact freely with our neighbors.
Bitcoin is that solution.
@boyacaxa@BitcoinVicFalls I must have missed the memo where you were appointed Chief Inspector of Bitcoin.
It is fascinating how a transaction settled on the Bitcoin network, paid in bitcoin, received in bitcoin, and recorded on the Bitcoin ledger somehow graduates into “not bitcoin” 🤔

A big thank you to the conference organizers for making this possible!
A local merchant shares her Bitcoin story, offering a side of Bitcoin that is often overlooked.
She has been accepting Bitcoin since March 2025, selling vegetables at our local market. To her, Bitcoin is truly beautiful.

My experience with Bitcoin can be likened to having an adventure walk I park called Life and discovering a "Life saving herb (Bitcoin), hence had to share it to our communities."
I couldn't be greed by not spreading its knowledge and just how financial inclusive it is for all.
It started with an idea that Zambia would benefit more from Bitcoin education than my local community in the USA. @bitcoin_diary, @PeleteMichael, Lukas, Walu, and many more have brought that idea to life and I couldn’t be more grateful and excited for the future of Zambia
