Quite incredible (but not surprised) to see Macron tell a lie in his interview to the Economist.

He says "today, China has an overcapacity of vehicles and exports them on a massive scale, particularly to Europe".

So let's look at the facts. China indeed is the most important source of imports for cars into Europe (https://t.co/reDHvzR1lO) BUT, and this is very important, Chinese brands only claimed a ridiculously small 2.5% market share of the European market last year (https://t.co/NyjtEpLVOq), with 75% of that being MG, a British car brand bought by Chinese group SAIC Motor. Without MG, Chinese car brands only have a 0.6% market share in Europe!

Why the discrepancy? Because the immense majority of cars imported from China into Europe aren't Chinese cars, they're made-in-China cars by foreign brands. For instance, if you look at EV cars specifically, Tesla alone accounts for 68% of the EVs imported from China and registered in Western Europe (https://t.co/Mq5HAa1H5V).

Can you then say that "China has an overcapacity of vehicles and exports them on a massive scale" when those vehicles are in fact not Chinese, but American, like Tesla? No, of course not. It'd be like blaming China for Apple's dominant market share in the phone market, because they're made there...

The truth is that China, as in Chinese brands, sell a ridiculously low number of vehicles in Europe, so small it's almost a rounding error. Which is a key reason why this "overcapacity" rhetoric vs China is so misleading.

Bari Weiss can't find a single example of an anti-Semitic student or professor not being expelled or fired for actual racist slurs directed at Jewish students, because they always are. In fact, countless professors have been fired for just being critical of Israel. Here's a test: Find one student who said an anti-Semitic slur to a Jewish student, and wasn't expelled. Find one. You can't, because they don't exist. Bari Weiss knows they don't exist, so she has to lie.

And she lies by conflating "Intifada" and "From the River to the Sea" chants with anti-Semitism, and then conflates that with the N-word, and then goes "well students get expelled for the N-word, but not Intifada, ergo contradiction!!!"
