Our brains love a shortcut.
This is so ingrained that it’s a “law”.

🚨You are being manipulated. I edited down this TedX Talk to get the important parts down to a very digestible length. Please watch it.
Some comments:

- I've talked about this in spaces many times, but AI already knows more about you personally, and how to manipulate human psychology than you realize.
- Companies have been targeting ads towards people who specifically *look like you* for 10 years. I know, because I was sitting in meetings about it back then. They knew your data was stolen immorally, and still use it to persuade you to act (give them your money).
- This starts with marketing - getting you to buy things. But that's just the start. As @PrinceGhuman248 states in this @TEDTalks, they can use your emotions to sway political opinions. (See Russia's involvement in the 2016 election as another example)
- We are giving way too much power to AI, which is still in its infancy. AI will be able to present just the right content to you, framed in the right way, to alter your behavior how it sees fit. An artificial intelligence will not have the same values or priorities as humans. What is beneficial to an Artificial Super Intelligence will likely not be beneficial to humanity.
- What are the realistic odds we get a new technology as profoundly different from everything before it right the very first time? When I worked in tech and sat in meetings about this stuff, I can tell you - the people pushing this do not think beyond getting there first. They are blinded by financial gain.
- You are 100% already being manipulated by it - due to imperfect training, presenting false information or lack of context, or due to it showing you what it feels like you want to see (not the truth)
Even if you are not actively using the AI systems like ChatGPT, you are interacting with it every day, and have been manipulated by it for at least a decade. And we're just getting started - you haven't seen anything yet.

(Must be following)
I love Ted Lasso.
And I love this story about Brett Goldstein (the actor who plays Roy Kent).
Brett was hired as a writer for the show but started to feel like he actually could be one of the characters…
So he filmed himself doing a couple of scenes as Roy and sent it to the team for consideration.
He already HAD a job on the crew but he probably wouldn’t have been cast as a character without going out of his way to prove himself and then ASK for the role.
What else might you accomplish if you just pushed a little further?
If you asked for what you wanted?
