I tried it once, and the most I had the attention span for was to have the figure walk a couple steps and land flat on his face. An entertaining GIF, maybe, but a movie it does not make.

It usually is janky as fuck. In order to make stop motion look smooth, you not only have to have a fuckin' unreasonably steady hand to move shit nanometers at a time, but talented editors, too. Shit's crazy.
