Coaches don’t need to know what’s wrong with a player’s hip/thorax/ankle/etc, they just need to know whether or not it’s affecting how they pitch or hit.
From our Pitching seminar in Phoenix:
Slow-paced breathing for 15 min each evening across a 30-day period increases subjective sleep quality and HRV compared to control (15 min social media) in healthy young adults. https://t.co/31NzrrFouE
Only 23 kids have played in the Little League World Series and gone on to play in the major leagues.
So...
If you ARE an elite 12 year old, work hard & play for the love of the game.
And...
If you ARE NOT an elite 12 year old, work hard & play for the love of the game.
THREAD: @BauerOutage had his last day yesterday at @DrivelineBB for the 2019 off-season and per usual when he’s here we got into some pretty in-depth talks on movement and mechanics. I thought it may be worthwhile to share some of my thoughts on the subject.
Your arm care program should consist of:
1: addressing YOUR deficiencies
2: hip mobility/lower body
3: regaining lost ROM
4: rib cage positioning/breathing
5: anterior core stability
6: increasing scapular upward rotation
7: soft tissue/manual therapy
8: thoracic mobility
The hips don't lie. Decreased hip motion increases risk of abdominal/back injuries in @MLB players. Must eval the entire kinetic chain in our baseball and overhead athletes. https://t.co/MtH6yZnwEg. @mayoclinicsport @DrAndreaSpiker @joshdinesmd@StruanColemanMD@ABCA1945
@drsosterer God the catastrophizing and fear around pain/injury in baseball is disturbing. I’ve been wanting to do a show centered on the topic for a while now. We shall see.
https://t.co/A5nbEqMqtD Steven Reinlie & Blair Bundy of RBI Performance Podcast recently interviewed Coach Wolforth. Topics include why playing games is overrated, how to talk to an athlete about arm pain & the most important thing most coaches aren't doing to develop players.
In-season training🔑’s:
- Sport is☝️.Complement don’t compete w/ it
- Adapt don’t abandon
- Maximize don’t maintain
- Refine but don’t reinvent the wheel
-Assume less & ask more
-Feel free to flirt w/ pr’s but don’t be married to them
-Protect the standard. Execution matters
