During The Civil Rights unit, I found it extremely surprising and almost revolting how involved the FBI was in MLK's life. They tried to use a piece of his personal life to discount his equality efforts, and suggested that he commit suicide. #rel2121s18

@klc15m I completely agree! There were so many things we discussed in this course that I had never even heard of before. The book review essay especially encouraged us to look at different perspectives, and analysis them on our own. #REL2121S18

This semester, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Satanism. Prior to the class, I did not know that Satanism is a humorous exaggeration of religion. I also had no idea that metal music was considered Satanic. #rel2121s18

@17_epb I agree with @hannahblevins00. There was a larger population of women, specifically in this moral majority, that agreed with the patriarch. Very different from today where most women know their worth, and our right to an equal place in society. #REL2121S18

@Religion2121 I find it interesting that you believe Malcom X is referred to in a positive sense. Prior to this course, I only ever learned that Malcolm X was a violent, radical, unsuccessful Civil Rights leader in contrast to MLK. #REL2121S18

Upon deeper research, I found the mother that originally accused Ray Buckey of sexually assaulting her child was mentally ill, possibly schizophrenic. The article claimed that the prosecution suspected the mother's mental illness, [...] #rel2121s18

but the trial had snowballed so far at that point that they simply continued. Virtually no evidence was found against the preschool, yet the trial took nearly five years to complete. The McMartin case exemplifies how the media can glorify and intensify a situation, #REL2121S18
