I am honored to receive a 2026 University Scholarly Achievement Award from KU. They say it takes a village. Mine took a village and then some: my lab, my trainees, my family. The award has my name on it, but it is theirs. They all make this job the best! https://t.co/Gpkf0dxhlv
Our review is now live @TrendsCellBio. We discuss how the DNA repair pathways c-NHEJ, MMEJ, and HR intersect at mammalian telomeres and the consequences for chromosomal instability. https://t.co/TTstou5YZW
Excited to share that the final version of our manuscript is now out @PLOSPathogens. Although apoptosis is considered immunologically silent, we find that activation of executioner CASP3 is critical for limiting intracellular bacterial replication!

Looking forward to the next PCGI Mini Symposium session on "Single Molecule Approaches to Genome Stability" on Monday, May 11, featuring Drs. Eric Greene (Columbia), Michelle Wang (Cornell), and Johannes Walter (Harvard) in the Gaulton Auditorium. https://t.co/2yKch8ZFdf
Yesterday, we enjoyed a wonderful round of talks by guests John Maciejowski, @J_Maciejowski, Sergei Mirkin (Tufts), with colleague Kavitha Sarma @sarma_lab, plus Piero Lamelza & Abby Hwang, at PCGI’s Mini Symposium on “Unusual DNA Structures." Our thanks to all who attended!
Great work in Mol Cell from John Maciejowski's group delineating BAF dependent regulation of TREX1 and cGAS in micronuclei. Very important implications for immune responses to chromosome instability. https://t.co/VeJyFqBAUh
Excited to share our new paper in @CellCellPress with @MarcoRuella, led by @Shan_Liu_
and @PuneethGuru_. CAR T cell therapy loses effectiveness over time due to metabolic exhaustion, but we found a surprisingly simple approach to address it. 👇

New from @Nature: A team led by MSK breast medical oncologist Dr. Pedram Razavi found that tumors with germline #BRCA2 mutations or homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) are more likely to develop RB1 loss during treatment with CDK4/6 inhibitors, leading to therapeutic resistance.
“If we look deeper and better understand the biology of tumors, we may be able to predict how they will behave on treatment,” says Dr. Razavi. “By forecasting how resistance develops, we can work to intervene earlier and potentially improve outcomes.” Learn more: https://t.co/DuSc4LKhkt
