@andrewpprice@tintwotin Free plugins are more susceptible to not being maintained over the long haul. I hope paid plugins will continue to be updated. If the plugin is valuable to artists I hope they pay for them to keep the developers interested in maintaining them. Support the devs buy a plugin.
@andrewpprice@tintwotin I personally feel Blender users know that some add-ons are made by individuals and others by teams of people. Some are free and some are paid. At the same time when we install them, we know they could break or stop working when a new blender build is available.
@andrewpprice Perhaps a preference setting? What about bevels with 0 segments? Sort of forced back to current method. What is the advantage to you about the proposed version?
@andrewpprice The Preserve sample has an odd number of loops, making the center loop an obvious choice but what is the plan for a bevel with an even number of loops? You end up with adjacent seams? The Current method, although not always the best solution is a consistent solution.

@WillFaucherVFX Having used Maya for many years and making the switch to Blender took patience, a little frustration but mostly allowing myself to forget how I did things in Maya. Both are good programs. Both have unique advantages. Both are just tools in the tool box.
