boomer VCs - you have been put on probation
be good frontier technology ecosystem stewards
or else your checkbooks will be taken away
all your LPs call me for references
the next generation is watching your every move
today, @OpenRouter is joining @stripe

Today, we're sharing that River AI has raised $1.1 billion, led by @generalcatalyst and @amppublic with strategic investment from @nvidia and @AMD. Additional investors include @ycombinator and @Temasek.
We imagine a future where your AI works entirely for you and deeply aligns with your values. Compared to the corporate chatbots of today, it will feel completely different: responsible, curious, and truly yours. Most importantly, you'll own everything: the hardware it runs on, the data it learns from, and the intelligence itself.
Our training API is already live and powering incredible work today. This new funding accelerates our push to bring the full personal AI stack to life.

AMP PBC Founder @AnjneyMidha says the massive amount of AI compute being wasted in the U.S. is a national security crisis:
“Every dollar of long-term lease that an AI lab takes today, you lose about 30–40% of FLOPs in just bad scheduling. The nodes are just straight-up not allocated.”
“Then within the chip, you only have like 15% of the chip being utilized. That’s called MFU, model FLOP utilization, because the chip is waiting around for some other process to complete: storage, memory, networking, or some other chip to hand it off.”
“If you compound those two things, of every dollar, only 15% of FLOPs are actually being utilized. That 85%? That’s a national security crisis, because that’s what’s keeping us from staying at the frontier.”
“Am I building up more supply? But also, are we utilizing the existing capacity to get the maximum output possible? Both those things are what’s going to keep us at the frontier.”
Introducing FLUX 3.
One multi-modal model for Image, Video, Audio and Action-Prediction. Creations are truer to life in every kind of style.
FLUX 3 Video is now available in early access (link below).
Jointly trained in one unified architecture, our model can be extended to predict actions for robotics. See our work with mimic and Audi in the thread.
fascinating to watch the Black Forest Labs team casually automate audi's industrial manufacturing operations with their video models

This statement forces the reader to wade through 70 words of corporate feelings before answering some very basic questions… which products and / or product lines are associated with the outbreak? And, has the issue been resolved?
Instead, they led with performative corpo tears about the reputational damage associated with giving the whole country the runs.
Take the L on this one TF. You’ll come out of it (may be awhile but reputations can be rebuilt).
writing an effective cold email requires such an immense amount of cognitive empathy. It's a muscle that needs to be trained... read fiction, travel, volunteer, coach kids. You'll come to understand people on a much deeper level.
big congrats to @MTiuca and team on publishing their gqm paper today
gqm increased google's utilization from <75% to 93%+ node occupancy - an insane reduction in compute wastage at scale
a must-read for all frontier systems ppl
Whenever situations like this happen, founders are quick to blame the journalist. But… what about their PR team?
Steps that could have been taken to avoid this situation:
1. Assess which outlet / reporter is best suited to report the story you want to the audience you want to reach (based on past reporting, rapport with the company and its founders).
2. Connect with the reporter on-background before providing an on-record interview.
3. Request a fact check following the on-record conversation.
4. Challenge points that are inaccurate and demand a correction.
I gave WIRED the exclusive on our hands launch, and they wrote a really weird article about how we are sexualizing robotics…
https://t.co/8VbNvx1rBF
I felt pretty betrayed because that’s not what they told me they were writing about not is that what I’ve ever been about… actually I stand for quite the opposite… But I’ve come to find a lot of dishonesty and malice in the journalism community so I wasn’t surprised.
This is what I sent the author… I’m only sharing this because I hope it encourages journalists to resist the click bait trap and tell truly awesome stories because I for one don’t believe journalism is dead— I think it’s just starting and just needs to evolve past the weird corner of the internet where data driven optimization turns everything into smooth brained shocking brain rot bullshit.
The technological revolution we are going through should inspire a journalism renaissance. Not let it fall into further decay. There is so much brilliance at play in the world and the stories should be told!
My note:
“[author name redacted], it was nice talking to you, but I wanted to let you know that I didn’t enjoy your article at all.
I understand the need to be inflammatory because that seems to be the only thing that gets clicks these days but that doesnt mean you shouldn’t recognize when something special is in front of you.
I trusted our PR team in saying we should offer you the exclusive on what is one of the most important technological developments in the history of Mankind and I deeply regret it.
Good luck with the rest of your writing career.
