“In areas where IDPs are trapped by famine, the TPLF is reportedly extracting 250 billion birr from gold mining—while Tigray’s annual budget stands at just 12 billion—underscoring how civilians are being politically held hostage.” @WFP@UN@hrw@Refugees@RuftaK_TDF
In the northwestern part of Tigray, ~16K IDPs are being held hostage & are vanishing due to famine.The most heartbreaking reality is that in this area, the TPLF, along with allied military factions, is inhumanly harvesting billions of dollars from gold mining over the past 3 yrs/
Where is the TPLF investing the 300 billion birr while our IDPs are starving? They are turning Tigray into a training ground for military operations, opposing the Ethiopian government and channeling this vast sum into their forces.
@RuftaK_TDF
Why are IDPs being gravely held hostage by famine?The answer is, the TPLF, along with its current alliance with the PFDJ, seeks to collapse the Pretoria Agreement & penetrate every household to mobilize people for war, which they believe is essential for their political survival/
Mengesha fought in the Tigray Defense Forces (TDF) but now stays in military barracks while resuming school. He represents a war-weary generation with little appetite for more violence.👇

In 2020, thousands of young Tigrayans joined the TDF, including Kidus, who fled the Mai-Kadra massacre. "At least the TDF would feed me," he recalls. He fought for 1.5 years before the Nov. 2022 peace deal.👇

But the demobilization of 274,000 TDF troops has barely begun-only 6,000 have been processed. Political distrust and lack of funding have stalled the process, leaving many ex-fighters in limbo.👇 #TigrayGenocid@UN@eu_eeas@hrw@StateDept@HouseGOP@Rufta https://t.co/hIZwY2tHYl
