महाराणा प्रताप के बहादुर सेनापति हकीम-खां-सूर के बिना हल्दीघाटी युद्ध का उल्लेख अधूरा है।18 जून,1576 की सुबह जब दोनों सेनाएं टकराईं तो प्रताप की ओर से अकबर सेना को सबसे पहला जवाब हकीम खां सूर के नेतृत्व वाली टुकड़ी ने ही दिया।ग़ौरतलब है कि अक़बर की सेना का नेतृत्व सेनापति “मान सिंह” कर रहे थे।

कहते हैं हाकिम खान से उनके दुश्मन थर थर कांपते थे,अपने अंतिम युद्ध हल्दीघाटी में हाकिम खान लड़ते लड़ते शहीद हो गए थे।उनका सिर कट कर गिर गया लेकिन उनका धड घोड़े पर ही सवार रहा।मरने के बाद भी उनके धर के हाँथ में तलवार देखकर मुगलों के पसीने छूट गए थे।

कुछ दूर जाकर जहाँ उनका धड़ गिरा वहीँ पर उन्हें दफनाया गया।
हाकिम खान के साथ उनकी प्रसिद्ध तलवार को भी दफनाया गया।धीरे धीरे उस क्षेत्र के लोग उन्हें संत मानाने लगे।आज हाकिम खान को पीर का दर्ज़ा प्राप्त है।
