There was a time in 1933 when Rs 3 bought you this lunch at the Taj Palace in Bombay.
To understand this pre independence menu we have to go back in time to 1903 when this hotel first opened in colonial Bombay.
The Taj was remarkably advanced. For the 42 lakhs it cost to build, it featured:
Electric lifts
Electric lighting throughout.
American fans.
Turkish baths.
Imported steel, crystal chandeliers, and luxury furnishings from Europe.
But more than that, unlike so many elite establishments; gymkhanas and clubs that had a whites only policy this hotel welcomed everyone. It made the statement that India can build and run luxury hotels.
This meant guests with varied tastes came to stay and dine. Among the guests who came to dine were Charlie Chaplin, silent movie star Douglas Fairbanks, Noel Coward and many Maharajas and British officers. The 1930’s were possibly the most glamorous era of this hotel.
This menu tells you so much about life at this time. For instance what is Rs 3 worth today🧵
When his wife tragically passed away because a mountain blocked her access to medical care, Dashrath Manjhi took up a hammer and chisel. Over 22 grueling years, the "Mountain Man" carved a 360-foot road right through that rocky terrain in Bihar so no one else would share her fate. A beautiful testament that love can literally move mountains. ⛰️ #DashrathManjhi #MountainMan #TrueLove #Bihar

Israel built this 7-layered wall costing billions of dollars on its border with Gaza, turning it into the largest open prison in the world 👇
Sorry for the typo, Egypt built this on its border with Gaza.
Unable to bear the shock of his grandson's murder, Ketan Agarwal's grandfather Devichand Agrawal has passed away.
Violent crimes don't just claim one life; they destroy entire families. The culprits must face the strictest punishment under the law. Nothing less!

#WATCH | Mumbai, Maharashtra: An eyewitness says, "... Around eight days back our manager complained about this, an offical from the BMC came he registered the complaint and the no one came. Four vehicles have been damaged... There are no casualities..."
A daycare employee at Capgemini's Bengaluru campus couldn't bear the abuse of the kids at the centre.
She reported it to supervisor, but instead of taking action, they fired her. She then became a whistleblower and leaked videos that exposed the abuse.
In the videos, toddlers were made to sit inside the drum of a front-loading washing machine, had water sprayed into their mouths using a toilet jet spray, were locked inside bathrooms, and were forced into narrow, water-filled pipes to frighten them. The videos triggered outrage, forcing authorities to act.
Today, according to media reports, the police have arrested the whistleblower only for allegedly "leaking sensitive videos." Lol! What a system! A poor woman with a clear conscience stood up to the powerful and went public, not for personal gain or with any malicious intent, but solely to protect those children. And she's the one who gets arrested.
@rishibagree Reminds me of a very famous quote:
“How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin.
And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.”

This servant NASEER has fled away from the property or comes in and out is the MAIN CULPRIT. He got married to the Tmc goon Shamim's Sister in law and than they all broke locks and came up on the first floor inspite of injunction. They all are illiterates.
I humbly request everyone reading this to please repost and tag the Hon'ble PM, CM, and West Bengal Police. For the past two years, I have been fighting what I believe is an illegal encroachment on my property. I am seeking justice and asking that my concerns be heard. Every repost can help. They threaten me each time I enter my property and tell me to return to Canada or else the consequences with a woman will be aggressive and violent. Thank you.
