Meet Shafi Tasamma, a father of five from Nedjo town, Oromia region.
A wheelchair provided through our Physical Rehabilitation Programme has helped him regain mobility, independence, and ability to support his family.
In Zalambessa town, #Tigray region, the water supply system was severely impacted by armed hostilities, leading to a lack of water to meet the basic needs of residents.
In response, the @ICRC constructed & renovated water points for the school and the community.

Mekhoni hospital in Southern #Tigray was heavily impacted by conflict, leaving communities without essential medical care.
With @ICRC support, renovations are nearly complete. The emergency room & post-natal area have been handed over to health authorities.

Health workers in conflict-affected areas of #Ethiopia deliver life-saving services.
To support them, the @ICRC held a 5-day Basic Emergency Care training in Bahir Dar for 17 health practitioners from South Gondar, North, East, and West Gojjam zones of the #Amhara region.

Ten years ago, the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2286 on health care in armed conflicts. The situation is even worse compared to 10 years ago. Today, we mark not an achievement - we mark a failure.
States and all parties to armed conflict must comply with the rules protecting health care. The obligation to “respect and ensure respect” for international humanitarian law requires states not only to abide by these rules themselves, but also to use all possible influence to ensure that other states and parties to conflict do the same.

In recent weeks, due to active conflict, health workers in South Gondar, #Amhara region, have faced challenges to continue saving lives.
