ℹ️ Agentic AI Against Aging (AAAA) is a hackathon that brings developers, researchers, and enthusiasts together to build practical AI tools that advance aging research. 7-25 Oct. Online.
We came to the conclusion that we need memes.
Because to defeat aging, we need to increase funding for fundamental research in the field of aging and life extension.
To do this, either states, or billionaires, or many people united among themselves (for example, in a Network State/DAO/pop-up city/community) need to finance science.
In the first and third cases, mass support is needed. In the second, it will also come in handy, because billionaires are people too, and if you convince a lot of people of something, then perhaps there will be a billionaire among them.
What is needed to convince a lot of people of something?
Media, culture, marketing. But this requires a lot of money.
How can we change public opinion right now?
Meanings. That is, philosophy. Or if you don’t like the word philosophy, then intellectual activity.
But philosophy does not spread itself very quickly.
Memes will help here — concentrated/viral philosophy.
This is what we are doing now. We facilitate the creation and distribution of transhumanist memes.
The most effective way would be to join the core of some strong longevity community who want to defeat aging, not healthspan as a main action.
At the moment, I consider the best ones to be https://t.co/1j0w2uGaF6 and https://t.co/0x3HO5DtdH
Then dive a little personally into the topic, and find the best way to use your name, skills, and charitable resources to strengthen the action against aging.
We need to accelerate our evolution.
We have already reached the maximum that humanism can give, it is time to move on to transhumanism, posthumanism.
People will never be good if their life is a gradual fading away, and then inevitable death. No matter how many rights we come up with, it will not correct the situation until the most basic right is properly realized - the right to life. An unlimited long life.
This will give a rational justification for being good.
The idea of biological immortality is not new, this is what humanity has been dreaming about since the emergence of consciousness and, as a result, the understanding of our mortality. In the oldest texts, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, this narrative is already found.
Culturally, we are ripe for immortality. Socially too. The fact that life expectancy is the main indicator of progress is a fact, read the main optimist of our time, Steven Pinker, this is the foundation of his argumentation.
But biology, our biology, is lagging behind. It is the bottleneck of civilization. We will not advance morally, technologically, psychologically, or socially until we defeat aging.
If we do not adapt the speed of our biological evolution to the speed of scientific and technological evolution, we risk not seeing the beautiful future we are building.
There is no doubt that for the future of AGI, we will be pets at best, unless we change our biology to become smarter.
#bioacc is the only way to singularity.
The engine of acceleration in the field of biology, I think, will be the crypto community.
The DAO boom created a revolution in the field of life extension. Projects like @vita_dao, @cryodao, @daohydra, @pumpdotscience appeared.
This is an increase in the efficiency of fundraising, an increase in the efficiency of science itself, bolder ideas, a more cheerful atmosphere and an honest rhetoric of eternal life, without a cowardly focus on healthspan. The crypto community brought to the field exactly what it lacked.
And here is another project from the same series - @bioprotocol.
If bio/acc is a ticket to the singularity, then BIO Protocol is the train we will ride.
BIO Protocol is a DAO hub. It helps launch scientific communities and accelerate their development. Now there is an alternative to traditional science with a lower barrier to entry, smart contracts instead of outdated bureaucracy, and an ambitious, bold environment.
Radical life extension will be achieved through bold projects and fundamental science - this is what DAO offers us, and not through small molecules that take decades and billions to develop and implement.
I will share my thoughts with you.
This is certainly not a scientific reasoning, but I proceed from basic logic, if you make a brain that can be conditionally rejuvenated surgically and by replacement, and make it autonomous, then this is much less than making each individual organ rejuvenating.
I feel that weak anti-aging therapies that slow down aging and increase life expectancy can be done without replacement, but a strong solution literally requires that all tissue and cellular damage be restored.
Artificial organs, cybernetic ones already partially exist, for example, with an artificial heart, some person lived more than 550 days.
Perfusion is a fairly common thing and there are strong projects like Nenad Sestan, MD, PhD, which are making a strong step towards the autonomy of such devices.
If you imagine a complete solution that would allow a person to win 50 years of a strange life, at least the boxes of a disabled robot to get to a complete solution for rejuvenation and restoration of the body.
That cybernetic body with brain replacement would be a much faster solution than trying to figure out the entire metabolism and program it in a designer way for rejuvenation, or even program cells and biology at the level of nanomachines that do what is needed bypassing metabolism, this looks like something from the 22nd century and not the 21st.
Of course, a lot of technology will be needed, but nothing that we cannot imagine now.
But with a solution at the level of changing the entire metabolism, so much science is needed that even a trillion dollars in research may not be enough to study everything.
In addition, the projects that are needed are being developed in parallel and a lot of work has already been done.
If you don't want eternal life, then what do you want? What are your terminal goals/values? What are you ultimately aiming for? What is your existence reduced to?
My point is that there is no worthy alternative to eternal life.
At best, you'll just want to live forever under condition X.
This could be, for example, health or happiness.
But the truth is that maximizing lifespan involves not just health or happiness, but becoming techno-gods, conquerors of galaxies, beings of entirely new intellectual horizons.
In the short term, in theory, it may be necessary to sacrifice something, but eternity is worth it.
In practice, I think that the pursuit of eternity is a win-win. We will not lose anything, we will only gain. It is very unlikely that efforts to prolong life will lead to prolongation of an unhealthy period of life, most likely the opposite. And the willingness to be unhappy makes happy.
There is nothing that so clearly points the way for humanity and for each individual in particular as immortalism.
No one flaunts the acceptance of their parents' mortality, it is socially approved to wish their loved ones a long life.
But to want to live long is considered something bad, selfish, and accepting future death is considered wisdom.
From this we can draw the following conclusion: it is good to love others and wish them well; it is bad to love yourself and wish yourself well.
This is absurd. Of course, we should love ourselves and wish for ourselves everything that we wish for our loved ones. That is, prolongation of life and the absence of death in the longest possible perspective.
