In 2018, during the so-called Ethio-Eri peace agreement, dictator Isaias made his grand proclamation at the Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa: "In the last 60 years, we haven't lost anything; everything has been returned to where it belongs." This bullshit sparked immediate, blind celebrations in Asmara, with the city's residents naively embracing the lie of Eritrean and Ethiopian peacemaking. The "tedemrenal" unity march, a farce initiated by Dr. Abiy Ahmed and parroted by Isaias, echoed across Eritrea, with Asmara's Liberty Avenue, now mockingly called Slavery Street, becoming the epicenter of this delusion. But this farce of peace was fleeting; after two years of what was clearly a manipulative deal, Abiy saw through Isaias's deceit and began to sever ties with Eritrea. Now, Isaias, desperate to cling to power, has flipped his script from 2018, stirring up old hatreds by focusing on past Ethiopian aggressions. Consequently, the initial illusion of peace has evaporated in Asmara, where the mood on Slavery Street(godena harnet) has soured from celebration to seething resentment towards Ethiopians.

The #Eritrean people are systematically forced to relive the painful memories of past, while the current #PFDJ regime manipulates these historical narratives to conceal its ongoing crimes against humanity it has committed since 1991. Although the Eritrean people endured severe repression under previous Ethiopian regimes, the current despotic regime has committed atrocities that far exceed the brutality of past oppressors. The regime controls and represses its people, creating an illusion of freedom while denying basic rights such as free speech, movement, and the right to form associations. In Eritrea #extrajudicial killings and arbitrary #imprisonment have become commonplace, and mandatory #conscription continues unabated.

The selective #amnesia syndrome of the regime seems to shift on Ethiopia—it was advocating for confederation in recent years (2018 - 2022), only to now portray #Ethiopia as the “number one enemy”. It is drumming a war and fear to prevent the advances made by #BlueRevolutiin coming closer to home. But #Eritreans at home are busy sharing new about the #BrigadeN'Hmedu. this is manipulative propaganda is outdated, no one can be fooled now.
