It is likely that a new military base for the Somali National Army will be established near Lasanod. This would mean progress for those supporting a united and stable Somalia. In the face of accelerating interferences from outside, including UAE and Israel in Puntland and Somaliland, and the looming threat emanating from a messianic leadership in Addis dedicated to the spread of a new imperial vision of Ethiopia, it is important to take Soomaaliniimo seriously. Beyond clan differences and personal ambitions, there needs to be an idea of Somalis working for Somalis and for Somalia.
