A new platform. A new conversation on the global economic order.
The India and Emerging Economic Order Forum (IEOF) was formally launched on 29 September as a joint initiative of the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (@RIS_NewDelhi) and the Delhi School of Economics(@DelhiSchoolOfEC) , University of Delhi, envisioned as a continuing platform connecting research, policy, diplomacy, business and the Global South.
The inaugural dialogue, “Navigating Uncertainty: The Global South and the Emerging New Economic Order,” brought together more than 450 participants, with representation from over 10 universities and 100 institutions, reflecting the strong interest in understanding the forces reshaping the global economy.
The inaugural session featured the keynote address and launch of IEOF by Shri Shaktikanta Das (@DasShaktikanta), along with addresses by Prof. Yogesh Singh (@YeDesHaiMera), Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi (@Delhiuniversit); He appreciated the joint RIS-DSE initiative in launching this important platform for dialogue and exchange, Dr. @seshadrichari, Member, Governing Council; and Prof. @RamSinghEcon, Director, Delhi School of Economics.
Three key takeaways from Shri Shaktikanta Das’s address:
1. The economic gravity of the world is shifting eastwards.
He highlighted the dramatic rise of the Global South, noting that the combined economy of emerging market and developing economies grew from around US$7.3 trillion in 2000 to over US$48.8 trillion in 2025, nearly sixfold. He positioned this rise as one of the defining features of today’s changing geoeconomic landscape.
2. India’s experience can offer lessons beyond its borders.
He highlighted India’s transformation across digital public infrastructure, space, nuclear energy and energy security, pointing to areas where Indian experience can inform wider Global South cooperation and development.
3. The Global South must dream together and also actualise that dream together.
He envisaged IEOF as more than a forum for discussion, a platform for collaborative research, policy learning and knowledge-sharing across the Global South, with a focus on supply chains, innovation, climate finance, infrastructure, local-currency financing and financial inclusion.
The launch is only the beginning. IEOF is envisioned as a continuing conversation on an economic order that is still being written.

The Ayush Services Sector Report is an important addition to this body of work. Dr. @SarinNS1, Coordinator, FITM, presented the report at the launch, taking the audience through the background and rationale of the study, its analytical framework, key findings and data points, and the recommendations emerging from the research.
The study seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the size, structure and growth of India’s Ayush services economy, while identifying pathways for strengthening the sector and enhancing its contribution to India’s economic and developmental journey. The launch on Ayurveda Day is therefore particularly meaningful. Ayurveda and the broader Ayush ecosystem are not only an important part of India’s rich knowledge traditions, but also an increasingly important component of our contemporary economy and our vision for a healthier and more prosperous India.
I congratulate the entire FITM at RIS team and all those who contributed to this important study. I look forward to FITM continuing to deepen the evidence base and support policy thinking on Ayush in India and globally.

On the occasion of 𝐀𝐲𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 23 September 2026, we are pleased to announce the launch of the 𝐀𝐲𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, prepared by the Forum on Indian Traditional Medicine (@fitm14), Research and Information System for Developing Countries (@RIS_NewDelhi).
FITM at RIS has undertaken a large-scale primary survey to estimate the size and structure of India’s Ayush services sector. The report draws on primary data collected from 𝟏𝟓,𝟗𝟏𝟒 𝐀𝐲𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, which includes several major Ayush services establishments. The FITM team also undertook several field visits and interactions with stakeholders to help capture the major dimensions of the sector.
This extensive field engagement has helped develop baseline empirical data of the sector’s economic scale and composition. The report marks an important step towards strengthening the evidence base for informed policymaking in India’s Ayush services sector.
FITM and RIS sincerely thank the Ministry of Ayush (@moayush). Special thanks to Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha (@vaidyakotecha), Secretary (@secymoayush), Ministry of Ayush; Smt. Monalisa Dash, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Ayush; and all members of the FITM Governing Board for their continued guidance and support in accomplishing this important study.
