The numbers are in. And they are asking us to act. 📊
Yesterday, partners from Samburu, Garissa, Tana River, West Pokot and Homa Bay alongside the @MoH_DRMH, @NCPD_Kenya, @KJA_Kenya, @nnakenya, @KNBStats, @IPPFAR, @coimpactcollab, county governments and civil society gathered to validate the #HerHealthInitiative Baseline Survey, the evidence foundation for five years of systems change across five Kenyan counties.
Here is what the data found about the adolescent girls at the centre of this work. 👇
• Tana River carries the heaviest burden. 🔴
• 81.3% of sexually active girls have been pregnant.
• 27.5% were pregnant at the time of the survey.
• Only 53% have ever attended school.
• Only 51% can read.
These are not just numbers. They are girls whose futures are being shaped by systems that are not yet working for them. 💔
First sex is happening too early. ⚠️
In Samburu, girls report first sex at just 15.5 years old on average.
Across all five counties, the average is under 16 years.
Before they finish primary school. Before they have full information. Before the system has reached them. 💭
But here is the thread of hope. 🌱
Across every single county, Garissa, Homa Bay, Samburu, Tana River, West Pokot, the number one source of sexual and reproductive health information for adolescents is the same:
👩🏫 Their teacher.
• 60–69% in Homa Bay and Samburu.
• 53.9% in Garissa.
• 52.3% in West Pokot.
Schools are the most powerful platform we have. 💡
When teachers are equipped, supported and trusted, they reach girls before anyone else does.
👩🏾Mothers are the second most trusted voice. 💜
• In Tana River, 34% of adolescents name their mother as a source of SRH information.
• In Homa Bay, 26.4%.
This is not a gap. This is an entry point. 🤝
When we strengthen what families and schools already do, we strengthen systems from the inside.
This baseline is not a report to be filed. 📋
It is a call to action, for county governments, for health workers, for partners, and for every person who believes that an adolescent girl in West Pokot deserves the same quality of care as one in Nairobi.
The #HerHealthInitiative starts here.
With this evidence.
With these counties.
With these girls.
💬 What do you think is the single most urgent action Kenya must take for adolescent girls in these counties?

What does #SRHR look like when it stops being policy on paper and becomes how a workplace actually operates?
This week #RHNK + @FKEKenya visited 2 workplaces in Kisumu:
@KisumuWater + Lake Basin Development Authority @LBDAgov
2 orgs. 1 commitment: make SRHR, gender equality + #DEI real, every day. 🇰🇪
After SRHR Training of Trainers, champions didn’t wait. They:
- Built SRHR implementation plans 📋
- Aligned activities with HR calendars 📅
- Budgeted for menstrual products 💊
- Ran weekly awareness + condom demos 🧑🏾🏫
- Appointed a PWD union rep ♿
The biggest impact is:
Staff feel safe to report SGBV.
Colleagues accessing SRHR services they didn’t know existed.
And one mum who now has flexible work, maternity cover + milk-expressing facilities.
That’s dignity. 💙
Does your workplace have SRHR champions? 💬

A contraceptive sitting in a warehouse changes nothing. 📦
A contraceptive reaching the woman who needs it, when she needs it, changes everything.
That’s the difference between a supply chain that works and one that doesn’t.
And that difference is a woman’s life.
We joined @MoH_DRMH , @Kemsa_Kenya , @UNFPAKen + partners for a workshop on Kenya’s Total Market Approach #TMA for family planning.
The question: What happens when commodities are in one place, but not where they’re needed?
💔 Turkana facility out of injectables.
County store 3hrs away has surplus.
A woman walks home empty-handed.
Strong commodity governance means:
✅ No stock imbalances
✅ No leakage
✅ Equitable access, no matter where you live
✅ Systems ready before she arrives
💬 Have you or someone you know been turned away due to stock-outs?

Historic moment today. ✍️
#RHNK + @nnakenya signed an MOU.
A binding commitment for the nurses and midwives who are the backbone of care across Kenya. 🤝
The reality:
Kenya has 13.8 health workers per 10,000 people.
WHO says we need 44.5 to achieve #UHC.
We’re at less than a third. 🔴
They face shortages, gaps in training, and too little support.
The system asks too much, and gives too little.
So we committed to:
🎓 Continuous learning
👩⚕️ Professional leadership
🔬 Evidence-based practice
📣 Policy advocacy
As #SHA reforms roll out, a stronger workforce = stronger health systems.
This is only the beginning. 🚀
#SystemsThatWorkForHer
Too many learners quietly disappear from school in Kenya.
Not because they stopped dreaming.
But because life happened: pregnancy, crisis, fees.
And no one was counting them. 💔
This week we joined the @EduMinKenya + partners to launch the Basic Learner Re-entry, Retention and Tracking Tool #BLRRT.
It ensures every learner who drops out, re-enters, or transitions is:
👁️ Seen
🔢 Counted
💪 Supported
Next: rollout to all 47 counties, community tracking, teacher training, and sustainable funding.
Because keeping adolescents in school = protecting health + expanding futures.
No learner should be forgotten. 🌟

1/2 When funding shrinks and the threats to women's rights grow louder, how do we keep moving forward? 💪
That was the question in the room at the @fidakenya Donor Roundtable 2026, and it was not asked lightly. 👇
The conversations were honest. The challenges are real. 🔴
Declining donor funding. Rising cases of gender-based violence and femicide. Climate-related vulnerabilities hitting women and girls hardest. Technology-facilitated #GBV opening new frontiers of harm.
The landscape is shifting fast, and the partnerships that protect women and girls must shift with it.
One message echoed throughout the room:
💬 The challenges are growing more complex. So must our partnerships.
For us, that message hit close to home. 🏠
Every day, through our programmes and the @NenaNaBinti Call Center, we connect with women and girls seeking healthcare, information, and support.
But for many, that is only part of the journey. 👇
Some also need legal protection. Representation. Access to justice.
A woman seeking help does not experience her life in sectors. She does not separate healthcare from justice, or protection from empowerment.
She simply needs a system that responds to her whole journey. ✨
That is exactly why the partnership between @RHNK and @fidakenya matters. 🤝
RHNK brought integrated SRH services closer to home last week at @RehnetMed and missions outreach church, Tassia Hill. Over 690 adolescents and first-time young mothers accessed the care they needed, right in their community.
#SRHR
Young people deserves the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality.
Today, we joined @NCPD_Kenya , @UNFPAKen and partners to commemorate #WorldPopulationDay2026, reaffirming our commitment to creating spaces where young people are heard, lead and make informed choices about their futures.
Speaking on behalf of partners, our Associate Director, Advocacy & Partnerships, @nyanjomjane1 , called for greater investment in young people through quality healthcare, education and meaningful participation.
Because the future isn't built for young people, it's built with them. 💙
#WPD2026
Last week, we took integrated #HIV and #SRH services closer to adolescents and first-time young mothers through our static facility, @RehnetMed and a community outreach at Missions Outreach Church, Tassia Hill.
We worked alongside healthcare providers 🥼from public health facilities, to complement county health services while ensuring more young people could access the care they needed, closer to home.
Over three days, young people walked through our doors to ask questions they had been carrying for months, access contraception💊, get tested for HIV, screen for cervical cancer, receive treatment for common illnesses and connect with healthcare providers who listened without judgment.
By the end of the outreach, over 690 adolescents and first-time young mothers👩🏾🍼 had accessed integrated health services.
That's over 650 reasons why bringing healthcare closer to communities matters.
This outreach was made possible with support from @UNFPAKen and in collaboration with the @NairobiCityGov.
We are grateful to our healthcare providers, community partners and everyone who helped make these three days possible.
Because sometimes, changing a life doesn't begin with a major breakthrough.
It begins by bringing care closer to the people who need it most. 💙
