A fresh and alarming wave of harassment, intimidation, and targeted assaults against Kashmiri shawl sellers has been reported across Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Delhi. In several instances over the past 30 hours, traders have allegedly been forced to chant Jai Shri Ram slogans, while in other cases they were prevented from selling their merchandise.

These incidents have created an atmosphere of fear and impunity, severely impacting the safety, dignity, and livelihood of thousands of Kashmiri shawl sellers who earn their living through lawful and traditional means.

Allowing such harassment to continue unchecked risks playing into the hands of hostile forces seeking to fracture India’s social cohesion and undermine its pluralistic ethos.
We urge @HMOIndia @SukhuSukhvinder @pushkardhami @NayabSainiBJP @LtGovDelhi to intervene urgently to ensure the protection and safety of Kashmiri traders across these states. Violence, intimidation, and communal hatred must not be normalised; the rule of law must prevail without fear or favour.
