Western companies think that you can trade temporary exclusivity on an idea in exchange for eventually entering the public domain.

All that really means in practice is that for 20 years, somebody can rip it off right away, and Western companies can only rip it off after 20 years. Then you repeat this cycle over and over again for every single generation, and it’s killing us.

We need to really fundamentally revisit the patent system.
