In the blink of an eye - fellowship is over! Grateful to @MayoCancerCare for 3 transformative years of excellent training and mentorship! Beyond excited to join a group I deeply admire at @SCRIOncology who has already warmly welcomed me! @mpgoetz@jonaspaludo@ErikaHamilton9
Absolutely incredible, 11 approvals in half of a year!
Tucatinib is now approved in front line maintainence for HER2+ MBC a win for patients! Kudos to @ErikaHamilton9 and team for their study of HER2CLIMB05!

Today’s approval makes 11 in #breastcancer since May 1! Google “FDA oncology approvals” for searchable list of heme/oncology FDA approvals (2006 to now) w/ a concise description of each, in reverse chronological order. A+ for Boards prep or clinical practice. #OncTwitter#bcsm
I got a chance to sit down with Targeted Oncology for Breast Cancer Awareness Month to discuss clinical trials in the community and a few of the many ongoing trials that may shape how we treat breast cancer!

Grateful for the growing options to treat ESR1-mutated tumors. This combination was NCCN endorsed and now FDA approved. This pace of progress is exciting for our patients — but our work is far from done! @MSKCancerCenter@OncoAlert#bcsm
Check out this wonderful profile of Dr. Ann Partridge (@AnnPartridgeMD) in @NewBedfordLight, reflecting on her extraordinary career advancing #BreastCancer care and research, her commitment to young patients, and life as New Bedford’s “first lady.”

Encouraging news for breast cancer✅️
Gedatolisib has received FDA approval for patients with PIK3CA wild-type disease. We already know that outcomes in the PIK3CA-mutant cohort are also very promising. If approval is extended to that population, gedatolisib could become a treatment option in the subsequent setting regardless of PIK3CA mutation status.
Another important question is who should receive the triplet (+palbociclib) and who should receive the doublet.
In the PIK3CA-mutant cohort, palbociclib does not appear to provide an additional PFS benefit, although the triplet achieved a higher ORR. It may therefore still be considered for patients requiring a rapid response. How the FDA label will ultimately be structured for the mutant population remains to be seen.
In the PIK3CA wild-type cohort, PFS was numerically longer with the triplet. I would therefore be more inclined to add palbociclib in pre/perimenopausal patients, those with rapidly progressive disease or substantial visceral burden, and patients with good hematologic tolerance.
For now, the main practical limitation remains its intravenous administration!
In a recent @SurvivorNetTeam feature, SCRI’s @SPremji7866 discusses datopotamab deruxtecan, a newly approved targeted therapy for triple negative breast cancer.
