The @LBofBexley Refuse workers & Cleansers are back on strike! They will commence six days of strike action starting from the 30th July. They postponed the last strike due to the Coronavirus but they remain on poverty pay with zero-hours contracts for many!

For all the Council’s cheering on key workers, they’ve hung us out to dry and written a blank cheque for these gangsters. We never wanted to do this. While working through the pandemic our requests have been ignored. It’s time for them to sit down and sort this out.

Refuse workers and street cleansers in Bexley are currently balloting for strike action over a culture of bullying in the workplace, widespread use of zero-hours contracts, the contractor reneging on previous uplifts and a ‘pay offer’ that will leave us worse off than before.

The reality is that Bexley Council’s decision to hand this service over to Serco has failed. They deliver a crap service, treat their staff terribly and are being paid literally millions in taxpayers’ money to do a bad job.

“A big question has to be raised about the quality of the service that Serco provides. Late collections, crap deliveries, zero-hours contracts and a staff that are demoralised and badly paid.

Thurrock Councillor @DavidVanDay of 80's Pop duo "Dollar" is currently backing plans to cut our income by up to £4000. Its been a while since his hit single "Give Me Back my Heart" and our refuse workers have got a better idea for him..........

Thurrock Council is trying to slash the pay for refuse and environment workers so they’re balloting for strike action. These men and women stand to lose between £1500- £3500 a year, some thanks for working through a pandemic.
