Biggest weakness of govt ‘back to work’ briefing today is it being based on complete misdiagnosis of problem. There are low numbers of short term unemployed and high % find work. Meanwhile we’ve seen huge rise in those dropping out of labour market, most of whom get no support.
Tory gives £3m to Tory party, gets peerage, offers to set up (not very) ‘blind trust’ for Downing Street, asks PM for help with pet project, PM (who likes a pet project) asks for £112k for refurbishment of ‘tip’ and promises he’s ‘on the case’. It’s cash for access.
Great programme on @BBCRadio4 right now with Rethink population change lots of stuff on jobs and ageing, lifelong learning, the 100 year life, all our tunes are being played!
@SimmsMelanie@ProfKPritchard Hey @SimmsMelanie what is your thing with booze? You mention it in so many of your tweets. Enjoy a glass or whatever you wish but why should your consumption be of wider interest? Do you ever think about the problems of alcohol dependency and the way the booze culture fosters it?
My daughter Hannah new art teacher and mentor Sarah Schmidt, have been getting going producing Christmas cards. Lots of gold and coloured paint. I hope I receive one! https://t.co/1IoaZKolFh
Happy birthday to my friend and my brother, @POTUS! Thanks for giving all of us the gift of better infrastructure. Grateful for all you’re doing to build this country back better.
The Opening our #HealthAndSafety seminar by @jnewsham who gave an energetic and engaging raising of the failures of Gov't and many employers to properly respond to the threat Covid-19 has had on workers - esp. those with higher risks to exposure.

'You will benefit from better care from the NHS thanks to the reallocation of funds from the Eu budget'...that EU Referendum was criminally mendacious wasn't it?
What sorts of policies are employers adopting re older workers in the pandemic? Will vaccine hesitancy accelerate passage towards the much vaunted “Plan B”? When will the importance of workplace policies be finally recognized? Join @crystal_balls and friends for this discussion

This of course is subject to the proviso that your pension provider doesn’t slice £17,500 of your pension fund without cause, Shilly shally around, not replying to your mails, failing to understand their own mistakes. @ScottishWidows know all about these things don’t they?
There’s no set age for retirement, but you can usually access your pension benefits from the age of 55 and the State Pension in your late 60s.
Visit our website for the answers to your pension questions and find out when you could retire.

Can’t help thinking @The_TUC ‘s comments on care workers and vaccinations is missing something. Currently seeking carers for my disabled daughter to return to independent living and found a bafflingly high percentage rejecting vaccination, even though free etc. Why?
@TAEN_Uk@WrkAfterLockdwn@EmploymtStudies Mmm. A victim of the Twitter character limits I guess. We all have mental health of course & the data shows that productivity was higher among those reporting better mental health (not unexpectedly) though the size of the gap is noteworthy, I’d suggest?
