@MikePMoffatt I hear a lot of seniors (two with mortgages saying "my mortgage costs me $542 a month. I can't rent for what I pay here. And yes, a younger couple wanting to move is holding back because it is expensive to change homes.
@realEstateTrent So.......why I no longer go to restaurants and am now avoiding travel - tired of competing with all the other tourists. Glad I did a lot of travelling before COVID and the world turned upside down.
@JohnPasalis We can't shut out one generation to sustain the previous one who had the choice to save to fund their retirement. JT and Canada has created a country built on real estate at the expense of productive industry/jobs. The trajectory is unsustainable.
@LarryKroh@LightBlueChevy@danielfoch It is good you are able to. Retirees in high priced areas are likely watching their property taxes escalate ever higher. I read the deferral of property taxes has doubled. This will need to be paid by the inheritor or I suppose the govt will then own the property if not paid.
@danielfoch How misled JT is. It is the bubble in real estate that has caused the low productivity. People chasing the dream of getting rich from flipping houses and incurring huge debt that leaves no money to invest in productive businesses.
@fmc7777@ShaziGoalie BC introduced a ban on airbnbs effective May 1, 2024. Lots of condos in Kelowna coming on the market. So, it did make a difference. I can see other provinces implementing the same in the near future.
@danielfoch This gov't sunny ways just doesn't end. Rather than play hardball with the speculators and demand side, he just keeps juicing the debt load of Canadians. He and Chrystia are like a family with out of control spending.
@JohnPasalis There just aren't enough people dying. It will be another decade before the boomers start dying off enmass. Not sure if it will be enough to offset all the immigrants and refugees the gov't keeps piling into the country tho.
@Fogelhund @ShaziGoalie Perhaps if the pay were higher and Canada was run like a business rather than hiring 100s of 1000s public servants and bloating the top layer of politicians, we could clean out the incompetent ones. Wait! there would be hardly anyone left.
@mortimer_1 The sad part is these contractors including GC Strategies will walk away with the money as we all know in Canada there is no real repercussions to fraud.
@StephenPunwasi@VinceGaetano@Rogers We play this game with house insurance and Sirius Radio. Phone calls usually garner you a discount from the automatic annual renewals.
