@TJ_Cooney Curious if it is unable to maintain attitude with the asymmetric thrust resulting from an engine out scenario. Would be a little surprising but could explain why they couldnโt complete the burn with one
@KenKirtland17 Based on the orbit data Iโve seen the satellite is pretty much dead. It has a decent amount of delta V but nowhere near the thrust to compete with the drag at perigee
@OmniAeronautica@EraserheadCap@blueorigin So many thing wrong with this. It was T-4, not T+4, and even if it was T+4, that would put it after stage separation not before
@Arthurs_rockets Thatโs just a result of using a prop, blades rotating downwards produce more thrust than those rotating up, meaning you have asymmetric thrust and a yaw moment towards the ascending blade, especially at high power. Thatโs why having a decent rudder/vertical stab is important
@CoversEuanD@Flight2Starship All of the engines are static fired before being put on the vehicle. The only purpose of on vehicle static fires is to verify delivery and ignition systems function, which a short static fire does just fine. Anything longer just causes unnecessary wear to the flame trench
@moejama64 Probably doable with a Jupiter gravity assist, only need about 11-12 km/s of delta v for that. Also could use Venus and Earth gravity assists. A straight sun dive from Earth is just about the least efficient way to do it and not really possible with any current rocket
