Teaching the 1619 Project in my US History classes now and let me tell you, explaining that this text is outlawed in many states and I could be fired, have my license pulled or possibly face fines or jail time for giving them this text - has been GREAT for motivation & buy-in!
There's grim news in the IPCC report, but also reasons for hope. We're flattening the curve of future emissions, and the darkest climate futures a decade ago are much less likely now. We can both celebrate progress and acknowledge how far we have to go: https://t.co/Kb5gslItmg 1/
OK, I rise to that bate.
No! Solar geo is not our only hope.
Emissions cuts are necessary, but they are not my only hope.
Local adaptation is vital but it is not my only hope.
Political change is needed, dito
Complicated problems get resolved with many interlocking changes
Strange how @dwallacewells pirouettes around solar geo but even in an article about heat stress and death he will not mention a method that might sharply reduce these risks.
Many bad things about solar geo, but dialogue better in the open.

This is an aggressively ignorant statement. It reveals a certain mindset that is fairly common among white male centrist/liberal pundits. They consider themselves the arbiters of what is and what is not reasonable - often without much substantive knowledge of the issues at hand.
We in the non-profit world, who run professional associations, centers and institutes have to find a new voice about non-partisanship. The enemy of progress, of decency, of facts and truth, of history and science, has a name.
🗣 Today I received official police charges for protesting for climate action in December. Now I’m waiting for court procedures.
🔥 No amount of state abuse of power will stop us from fighting for climate action and social justice. #AnotherWorldIsPossible & within our reach ✊🏽
This is a fascinating, original take by @CoreyRobin I think he's right. Unfortunately.
