🚀 We are thrilled to announce the release of the Icechunk storage engine, a new open-source library and specification for the storage of multidimensional array (a.k.a. tensor) data in cloud object storage.
Read our blog post about Icechunk here: https://t.co/S8MTgJT5lz
@TEGNicholasCode Nope, it's still going! And hopefully Gustavo & others will still be around for Zarr / VirtualZarr stuff, but they'll be spread a bit thinner now :)
Some personal news: I'm looking for a job!
https://t.co/qG7tWiBACK
Some of my (very talented) former teammates are also looking for a job, so reach out if you're hiring!
@zooba Thanks! We were just starting on the next wave of security stuff :) It was great to call you a colleague, but now we'll go back to being colleagues in open source, hopefully.
Finally got around to writing a blogpost on flox. Faster groupby/binning/resampling/climatologies with @xarray_dev and/or @dask_dev described at https://t.co/94gpQ3Wswx
See https://t.co/0ErOq2FYTZ for quick examples
@robmarkcole@dask_dev https://t.co/Jqn4vuvGc8 and the example at https://t.co/Z14wxPH6a1 go into this.
My need for this kind of feature has lessened since we started providing STAC items as geoparquet for bulk queries (https://t.co/BkiF1TAP8U).
@giswqs I really like that ability to get the STAC items from the map object. That's a nice combination of to go back and forth between code and the leafmap UI.
@ocefpaf Oh cool. We should be able to get something similar for static images with the Planetary Computer data & APIs. https://t.co/Mrmkm9Hbxi is one of those IR bands. I'll mess with the parameters to see if we can generate something similar to their night scenes.
Come work with Julia Kent, @scotty_h_q, @JessicaScheick, Alan Snow and me on improving @xarray_dev satellite data workflows for a PAID summer internship at NCAR!
See project 8: https://t.co/qqQalAJvsm for a description but the forecast is "cloudy with a chance of @dask_dev"
@danrothenberg@aravindEO Just in case you haven't seen it, https://t.co/LuFthuJVOR :)
I think "ARCO" is a bit underdefined, but we're doing basics like cloud-optimization (& mb kerchunk)
Maybe you specifically had @al_merose's ERA5 dataset in mind? When I have time I'll be revisting our ERA5 pipeline.
I'm excited to announce pygris, a new #Python package to help you work with @uscensusbureau geographic datasets (and other resources)!
