20 YEARS AGO TODAY, the Southern Belle tour ran from Ramsgate to Weymouth heralding the end of the Slam Door EMUs.
1698 did the honour for the run and was the last 4CEP to run on the national network in 2005.

Apparently the final Class 442 vehicle, this is a driving car from 442419 that’s heading for scrap next week. It was part of SWR’s idea to improve stock on the Portsmouth Direct road.
